Good to hear from you Brian. Unfortunetly, this is not what I had in mind when I imagined "Something New From Intamin!" If you change you mind about visiting Cedar Point, let me know! I'll get you hooked up.

Hmmm...why do I expect the WT treatment to SUE?

I thought Corkscrew was in India now... ;)

oops, double loop? One of those two leftover coasters from geauga lake. :)

Hopefully it will be limited to just added supports, not reducing the first launch up the back spike. I like WT, but it feels like its taking forever to get up to speed with the half launch on the first reverse trip.

But then again, what do I know?

Depending on where you live, you could always "drive past Six Flags to get to Cedar Point!" ;)

Looks like someone is skimming topics... :)

You know, I swear I met that lady in line in 2002. She was with her kid waiting to ride Speedy Gonzalez's Big Trucks down in Boomtown. She would just not stop about how Cedar Point was no good and it was too big and she was afraid she'd lose her kids there. I remember because I saw the commercial again the next day after work, and she looked familiar. Who knows. *** Edited 2/12/2004 9:47:32 PM UTC by Zero-G***
Maybe S:UE will finally get that added support much like WT. It wasn't open last year with the rest of the park because they were putting those slides in and couldn't navigate a huge machine to the ride to go up and inspect the spikes for stress fractures. I don't believe stress fractures were the reason it was down in the middle of the season.
Erm, no. I shouldn't say, but alas, I have no self control. One of the rides at the park was closed when attendents on a ride next to it saw parts of said ride, leaving their place. Does that make sense?

Batman Knight Flight kicks butt. I don't know when you guys go to this park, but when I go it's always packed. I think it's a nice park.

Redwings rule!!
They are removing Superman Jes? Alas, a new coaster for Darien Lake!!

-A....who had too many Knotts Berry Farm shortbread cookies for lunch!

September/October IS the perfect time to go! The crowds are usually minimal that time of year and the weather is perfect! You can easily do all the coasters and them some (even when they are ALL open :-O)

Batman is an awesome floorless. Superman still has it's moments. :-D

Alot of people dislike X-Flight but it's my favorite coaster (next to Batman) in the park. I love the sensations, especially the diving loop, but that's just me. :-D

Raging Wolf Bobs smoothed out a bit last year which made it more enjoyable, which Villians seems to be much rougher nowadays. The Mind Eraser is a typical boomerang headbanger. The Big Dipper is OK. The Double Loop is worth it if it's a walk-on (which it usually is even on the most crowded days). What am I missing.......OH! The Serial Thriller.......eh. Roadrunner Express.....nice kiddy.

The park has a nice little quirky Looney Tunes playground which is just hilarious to walk through. It's right next to the Time Warp which is also pretty, um...strange.

I like the Texas Twister (Huss top spin) as well but it seems it runs *sometimes* nowadays, and if you like pure fear, there is always the old Mr Hyde's Nasty Fall!

I would actually recommend visiting the Wildlife Side if you have time. The last time I visited in the fall I spent the whole day going back and forth and didn't have a problem getting my coaster fix. The Wildlife side IS very cool, but of course I have a soft spot for wildlife in general. :-) The shark exhibit is especially fun.

Big Dipper rocks! It was my favorite coaster in the park...talk about ejector air!

I went on a Thursday of the last week in August 2003. I had just been at CP on a high for 2 days prior. School was back in session so the park wasn't crowded at all. All the coasters were operating except the Double Loop (still not sure why it wasn't working other than so Thunderhead could be my 100th coaster when it opens hehe).

A side trip to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a must if you're a music fan. I spent 6 hours in there gawking at all the cool junk.

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!

What about this Serial Thriller coaster. What is your opinions of that one? How many inversions?

It's a Vekoma SLC with 5 painful inversions.

Although ST only has 5 inversions, SFWoA was selling shirts back in 2000 that said its stats which stated it had 7 inversions...

It's interesting... I have the newspaper article saying it would have seven inversions as well. What the hell were they smoking? I think the cheap Geauga Lake media people wanted to claim one more inversion than their northern neighboor, Raptor.
Hey Jess, remember when Serial Thriller had seven inversions?! "I think one of those loop, twisty, turn thingies, is considered an inversion," said Shannon on media day.

Best airtime in the park is in Dippers' third seat. It's a classic traditional Miller coaster that hasn't been altered too badly (except for the double down that removed years ago). Be sure to ride in the back seat of Villain in the evening, for a truely religious experience. Wolf Kabobs is best in the back especially since they are finishing the track rehab project this year. If not..look out!!!

Wood - anything else is an imitation

I'm sure Shannon is a nice person, but from my experience, she was not connecting the dots all the time.
Cool, thanks for all the info and advice. I will probably have to squeeze in at least a little time on the wildlife side. I would like to see this shark exhibit and other wildlife as I am an animal lover. I just didn't know if I would have the time.
