Why after a 13 year streak of building in even number years would they decide to build something big. They feel SFWoA's presence and it shows in their 2001 attendance. If "Dragster" is what people are guessing it'll be a great year for SFWoA fans (not to mention their attendance).
CP was building the biggest, fastest rides before Six Flags purchased GL. I don't think CP is all that concerned with what SF:WOA is doing.
And can you explain how CP getting a launched Intamin coaster is going to help SF:WOA attendance?
As a season pass holder to both parks I hope SF does get the 200 foot hyper and CP the 400 foot rocket. Wouldn't that be nice!

IMHO SF couldn't build SFWOA a hyper even if they wanted to.....the investors would chase them out of town with sticks.
We're talking about a park that had flat attendance at best even when a new $15 million coaster greeted guests at the gate (X-Flight).
Imagine the conference call with investors: "After tens of millions invested in SFWOA in new coasters and a $150 million purchase of an adjacent park, we've decided what we really need is about $10 million more....."
and then pandemonium would break out.

Bob, my point was that CP has been building in even years for 13 years now, why would they decide to suddenly break that tradition after feeling a little heat in 2001?
CP's launched coaster is going to help SFWoA's coaster(s) because people are going to go to CP and say, "Why not go to WoA, they got a new ride" or something like that. My point is that people coming from out of state would be willing to go to both since they are so close together, and both have new attractions. That's what happened in 2000.

Wow, after 15-16 months of lurking, someone finally quoted one of my comments. Even if it did contain a typo.
I am glad to see that someone agrees that we investors (hey my 100 shares is at least a dirty bathroom stall) will be a little agitated at throwing more money at WOA. Problem is, will Big Brother Gates as a 10%+ stakeholder, if he cares to be influential (and at 10%, he could be) customer service will continue to suffer. Microsoft and Six Flags, a match made in . . .
BTW, I still think BK fries suck. The Whopper's cool though. Nothing like a fat, juicy, flame broiled, microwaved burger.

Back on topic - I do agree that if SFWoA were to build the hyper, you will get folks visiting CP out to Aurora to try the new ride, even if those folks are mainly enthusiasts. And if the park does advertise correctly next year (no anti-CP but focused on what the park DOES offer), then maybe attendance will increase.
BK fries aren't that great but the Chicken Whopper (with cheese) and BK Broiler are awesome.

"Boys and Girls just answer me these questions. Which park has better customer service? Which park has adequate staffing? Which park is cleaner? Which park can you actually find a staff member if you are looking for one? Which park runs its coasters with all of the trains even on non busy days? Which park offers the better perceived experience?
Do I need to answer that"
It's stupid to compare both parks, in these categories. They are two VERY different thrill parks. Both are great and both have different things to offer. If you want to compare things then why don't we throw in LeSourdsville Lake? C'mon, that's the biggest problem with people going to these two parks...always comparing. Just go and have FUN.
Now, back on topic...
To those who have been wondering about the track. I have been up there at least 2 days every week and STILL I have seen no track (I know pretty well were to hide things up there) BUT there are many places to hide things...TONS of trees! And another BUT
There ARE 24 shipping containers all orgainized in the bone yard now (the trucking kind, like X-Flight stuff came in). They are probably holding Fright Fest stuff in them though since they are all next to A TON of black boards all stacked up. And SFWoA has annouced they are putting on a HUGE Frightfest this year! And another but....
There ARE MARKINGS (for what, who knows) by the aquarium. Orange spray paint is on the "rock grove" by the lake and aquarium (where the ducks sleep at night). There are 5 dots leading from the aquarium to BKF stadium. Where the coaster could go? Yes, but still not much else can be figured out. There are NO other markings that I could find or see.

Everyone please ignore HurricaneGeauga. He is the only SFWOA fanboy in existance....he would choose a crappy park like SFWOA over CP.
Uhhhhh......make that two people.
Admittedly, I hit SFWOA on a very light day and could easily see how things could get much worse on a heavy day. I also did SFWOA exactly once and have done CP to death since '74 or so.
But if I was standing at each gate this instant with my family, I'd have to give SFWOA the nod.
Five words: free wavepool and passholder discounts.
Of course, this may all change next summer when Da 'Midget is 48" tall. I'll let them decide.

I sure hope they get a hyper, and a B&M, at that. The only things I dislike about RB and AC are that they are both about 8 hours from my house. Of course, they don't run all the coasters they have now-I've been to the park 3 times this year and haven't been able to ride Double Loop once, although I was ONE train away last Thursday before lightning hit.
Oh, and I'd pick BGT, BGW, IOA, SFGAm, and Holiday World over either of them anyday.

While I think HG's "comments" have been over the top and reek of "HaterAde", I agree with having a better time @ SFWoA than CP and I've been to both parks an equal number of times since 2000. But like many others there are several parks I'd take ahead of either (SFGAm, HERSHEYPARK, DisneyLand, BGT...)

A hyper would round off SFWOA collection nicely. A clone of SROS at New England would make me more then happy .
I dont care if CP adds a 400 ft rocket coaster, a nice hyper would please me more. (Launch coasters are fun, but I prefer traditional coasters)
Whats so bad about enjoying SFWOA more then CP? Sure, CP is the better park, but the long lines always make my trips unenjoyable. When I buy a ticket, I expect more then 5 rides in a day.
Not too mention that Big Dipper is the best coaster in Ohio :). I could ride that thing all day...
