SFWoA announces Hurricane Mountain

Starfish was at SFMW. It is a Chance Wipeout. It's currently sitting in the SFWoA preferred parking and handicap lot on the wildlife side.

I'm excited about the new additions. Hurricane Harbor has needed more attractions to increase the capacity in the water park.

There are stakes in the volleyball court but do you think the ballroom and Turtle Beach may be removed to make way for all of this?

I'm glad they didn't totally get rid of the bird show. Wild Skies was quite an enjoyable show last year. I look forward to seeing the lumberjacks as well.

BTW, the Bee Bee was supposed to go into the park last year but for some reason was not installed.

X Factor

Shark Attack the 3 slide complex will go in at the volleyball courts, this complex was to be installed in 2000 but after court battles SFWoA just received the permits at the end of 2002.

Hurricane Mountain will be installed by the Scraper were the musik express currently sits. I dont know however if the ride will be moved or removed completely.

Wooo. Yippee freakin yie yay.

I don't care. Flame me. Call me a CP fanboy.

Säubern Sie mit Milch? ;)

Well that was definitely unexpected. I can't say that I'm disappointed in the least either! I mean if I get to SFWoA this year, I HIGHLY doubt I'll even partake in this slide complex, but this will definitely help the draw of the waterpark, and will improve overall capacity, as well.

VERY good job, SFWoA! I really hope I can get back there this year.

BTW, Chile is RIGHT on the coast practically. I'm sure hurricanes hit there all the time. What's in a name anyway?

I'm not an enthusiast, I just play one on message boards.

It didn't have enough waterslides, so this is a good thing. I believe it is the tallest slide in North America, at over 100ft. tall. Ball Room and Turtle Beach should be staying where they are at, and I would look for the Musik to be moved, not removed. I'm and Lumberjack, and I'm ok...I put on women's clothing and hang around in bars...

That slide looks pretty nifty. I don't know about all the "bright" colors but it can grow on you I guess.

Im glad to see this.. 2 new shows, paddleboats on the lake, lots of new waterslides, more rides for the younger age group. They seem to be doing what they can since they didn't add the hyper or any new coaster. It seems WoA will most likley improve on family fun and possibly park operations this summer. Which will be very nice.

Im actually surprised by all the slides and improvements they are making ^_^

How is it going to fit where the Music Express is? You have the Hurricane Bay wave pool on the other side of the brick wall.

When I heard news about the Lumberjack show, I nearly jumped out of my seat. That was my favorite show at Sea World! It was also the last show I ever saw at Sea World (they showed it during the Halloween Event in 2000). I doubt it will be the same show, but it is exciting to me. The birds in HH will bring more of a tropical feeling, which the park is going for. It appears that the slides that have been sitting in the boneyard since 99 will be used for Shark Attack. Is it just me or does Hurricane Mountain and Shark Attack seem alittle cramped for their area? To be honest, I am excited for the new season with these improvements.

Someone noticed! I did not ride Starfish at SFMW (my home park) because it was always closed. Best of luck with that SFWoA.

Here is a picture for those of you who are confused: Starfish!

Wow! I must be getting in the "in crowd" someone finally imitated me - in a good way, that is... ;)

But, back to the water slide...they are claiming it is the tallest in North America at 100 ft tall? Am I missing something here? Isn't Zoombabwe at HW over 100 ft tall? Or is it more hair-splitting trying to claim HW isn't a "theme park". If you ask me, HW has more theming than SFWoA...

Tallest in North America? Uhhh.. how about Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach (WDW). 125 feet, going at 60+mph at the bottom, yeah! But, that slide will waste you! I rode it 6 times during the day and the next day, I could barely move, lol.

Is this the same waterslide package Dorney park is getting?

I'll tell you what, Im very pleased with this announcement. Its a very family oriented additon which should bring lots of smiles to park patrons.

Good job, Six Flags

I consider myself a very progressive guy, and a feminist, but how does the word "lumberjill" just get thrown into conversation without notice from anyone....I feel like I've woken up in an episode of Futurama.

I do beieve that both kiddie rides' origins have been determined, SFMW and SFKK, without a doubt...SF is asving a LOT of money this year with relocations and reinstalls, it'd be in *our* best interest if the attendance is robust and the company does well. No matter how we feel about some of their obvious *issues*, SFI has provided US (thrillseekers) a heaping helping of great rides in the past decade or so....my two cents...

These are decent additions and will help draw in familie$. Besides, with what's going in down the road, I think WoA is actually doing themselves a favor by NOT getting a hyper, at least not this year...

Hi rollergator. When I worte that, I was actually a little uncertain about how that word would be received, but I figured that since "Timber Tina's Great Maine Lumberjack Show" uses the word lumberjill during their shows and on their website, that it was an appropriate word. I have seen Timber Tina host all female demonstrations and they use the word. My sister was a member of her college's woodsman's team which competed in "lumberjack" competitions, and they used the word positively among the female participants.

It's definitely a positive word, no doubt about that. I was actually *pleased* that no one questioned it, as I am one of the big supporters of Title IX and the subsequent female inclusion into the sports culture. We may not all be "the same", but equality of opportunity in sporting is one of the ways in which we can ALL come together....a great benefit to all!
