SFWoA announces Hurricane Mountain

I posted this in news but I don't know how long it will take to be posted.

Reported on the WTAM 1100 website, SFWoA announced Hurricane Mountain a new 100ft, 7 waterslide complex. Hurricane Mountain is being billed as the largest water slide in a north american theme park.

Also announced was a new lumberjack, and a new bird show.

Teen #1: Hey, let's drive out to Cedar Point and ride the Top Thrill Dragster.

Teen #2: No, let's go to Six Flags, I hear they have a new Lumberjack and Bird show.

Teen #1: Oh cool! That's much more exciting that what Cedar Point has!

A new lumberjack? So there's going to be a red-flannel-shirted, suspendered guy strolling around the park with an ax?

Roller Junkie - how is the name Hurricane Mountain an oxymoron, or any worse than the name Space Mountain?

It's in Hurricane Harbor and is a very large slide complex....makes sense.

SFWoA TL 2003!

Lumberjack shows can be cool. The ones I have seen are exciting competition/shows...like a recreation of the Stihl Timbersports competitions on ESPN. In Maine there is an all female Lumberjill show that sometimes makes the rounds at outdoor sports shows in the Northeast, and that is fun too.
There can be mountains in space.. maybe like on Mars or something. But hurricanes never make land fall on mountains. Errr.. wait. Maybe it's tornadoes I'm thinking of. Whatever.

If they're on Mars, they're no longer in space. They're on a planet.

I think this is a great addtion to the park. Yea, it may not be a coaster, it's still a major ride. And it adds more value to the waterpark area.

I will say this:

Kudos to SFWoA's waterpark and the fact that it is inclusive as part of the admission price. The largest slide in North America or the largest complex in North America? That is an important distinction.

Guilty pleasure: I used to enjoy the lumberjack show at Sea World!

No it doesn't. Hurricanes do indeed hit harbours, but mountains? I suppose in Southeast Asia, but it's still a stretch.

Hurricanes hit mountains in Mexico and the islands in the Caribbean, and their sisters [aka Typhoons] hit mountains in China and Japan. Again, its no dumber than Space Mountain [and how would you actually have a mountain made of space, anyway?].

.... As if they didn't have enough water slides already, they need to focus on other things.
The SFWoA site has been updated. There's a total of 10 new waterslides.

If SFWoA relies as much on season passholders as they did when they were Geauga Lake, then the addition of these waterslides makes sense. As I said earlier, the waterpark is a positive at a park full of less-than-positives.

This is no hyper coaster but it isn't a bad thing.

The park is adding more than waterslides and shows:

"In 2003, park guests will not only be slip-sliding away, but they will also be spinning, whirling and twirling out of control on two all-new family rides! The Starfish and the Bee Bee will take mom, dad and the kids on rides they'll never forget!"

Bee Bee sounds like a flat ride that used to be at SFKK near Twisted Sisters. Starfish sounds like a Wipeout or Trabant.
