SFStL 2006 Happenings.

Things are progressing at Six Flags St. Louis for the 2006 season. The press release is slated for later this month, but things are starting to get kicked into overdrive and I don't think that some of the sections receiving attention will be recognizeable.

Tower parts in the lot have been painted and ride carriages have arrived:

Do we know if they are keeping the "dungeon" theme/name with the ride?

"Would you like to buy a photo of you boys enjoying the Line Ride?"

No they are not. It is pretty much a done deal that they are going to be calling it Acrophobia. Also the other big thing is that they are going to be adding the new kid's section called Looney Tunes National Park which will go up by where Tom's Twister was. The old Looney Tunes Town area will be downsized and renamed and the Moon Cars will receive a longer course next season.
There are 2 sections of each color (teal/blue, bright green and orange/brown) for the drop ride. The bottom blue section is in place and that is the reason that there is an odd number in the parking lot.

This is the largest single seson expansion (in terms of quantity, not counting the entire waterpark) in the parks 35 year history. You might need to pick up a map when you enter the park for the first time in 2006.

This is a great addition to park with the drop tower and the new looney toon kids town. It is also great that they are finally expanding the moon cars because they were so short after they put in that picnic pavillion. Now only if we get that roller coaster next year SF St. Louis will be a great park.
SFZIP - have you heard what exactly LTT will be themed to? I have heard so many different things that I am to point of not believing any of them. :) And yes I knew that one piece was already in place, which is why I said what I did on the update...

Did you finally get clearance to take photos inside the park or are we going to have to rely on the updates sixflagsstlouis.net?

Don't know what LTT will become and you'll have to rely on the parks website for updates (wish the were more up to date). *** Edited 1/7/2006 7:45:25 PM UTC by SFZIP***

Will have some pictures of three of the rides later tonight, and I am sure Swoosh will as well.

Also looks for full details on Saturday night both here and sfstl.net. However if you impatatinet Screamscape's update from `1/06/06 will give you a good picture of the scope.

I can only say one thing...... sweet!

First few pictures are up.

Nah, I let you guys handle those pictures. I didn't get any of those rides when I was over there. It was a quick trip on business and just barely had time to get photos of Acrophobia.

Dont you live some 100 miles or more away from STL Swoosh?

In any case Johnson has posted a large update to the first page on the rides we can expect. He says he owes a large amount of it to SFZIP, so I say thank you to you sir.

Also there were suppose to be more pictures up by monday, but there was an email mishape and its going to push that back. Sorry, hopefully by mid week Johnson will have some more, and better quality photos up.

Well it's a little over 100, I live in Columbia. Which is a great place to live in the Show-Me State as all three parks are not too far away.

Looking forward to more pictures. :)

We are vertical now. There are three sections up blue then green and the new orange piece that just went up. Here are some pictures of the tower before the green part went up...

Also forgot to mention that they are repainting Screamin' Eagle for this season. You can see how bright the lift hill is compared to the rest of the ride. I would imagine they are doing that so that the bright new drop tower doesn't make SE look so neglected with regards to paint.

Does this tower tilt riders outward?

^ No, it's an Intamin second-gen drop.
Does SFoG's "tilt action" even work anymore? Not like it really added anything to the ride as all you could think about is how you are dangling from your crotch up several feet in the air and how much that stop is going to hurt your privates. NEVER AGAIN!!!

It was working early last season when I rode it. Not a comfortable feeling from my perspective.

"Heavily medicated for your safety!"

Only have 2 more pieces (2nd Green & 2nd Orange) plus the topper left to add to the tower. This thing is really towering over the park and is drastically changing the skyline of SFStL. It is sure to be a popular addition and I can hardly wait to see what impact it will have on attendance as it is sort of its own advertisement for those driving by on I-44.

The tilt merchanism on Acro, to the best of my knowledge, was burned out in a lightning strike...

It works fine, and I have kinda figured out how to ride *safely*....keep your knees together....firmly.... ;)
