Cedar Fair now owns the SF parks. We'll see if they continue the same trends as the previous owners. I have a feeling things are going to be different now.
Schwarzkopf76:
They should call it Giga Watt
If it were Universal, it would be "Jumping Jigawatts."
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

They should call it Giga Watt :)
Giga who?
I hope they build this thing with a hole ... as impressive as the larger rides are, nothing is quite as dramatic as Oblivion. They sort of did it with Yukon Striker, but not quite.
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Given the amount of times I see stories/pictures of the area over by Shockwave flooding, I highly doubt they'll go below grade with this one.
I do fully agree that a tunnel for the first drop would be great!

This dive coaster will be built in La Vibora's old plot. That area isn't as flood prone, in fact Titan has a 10ft tunnel.
300ft tall brown and tan track. Oh boy.
Coasterbuzz - Coaster enthusiasts, but so much more. We're the good ones.
The track has 10 bolts going across! This is indicative of the 8 to 10 across seating. The 7 across seating and lower typically have 6 bolts.
I wonder what influences their decision to go for a Giga or a big dive coaster? Canada's Wonderland has both and a hyper, come to think of it.

I feel like Cedar Fair wanted to build a Giga Dive to show off. This is just the best opportunity to do it
Counting down the days until I'm back at Cedar Point, the one and only place to be.

The perceived marketability of a new coaster drives a lot of the decision making Rick. They want to add as many superlatives to their park as they can afford.
It just so happens that after Yukon Striker, you're only 50 feet away from entering into Giga territory. At that point, why not go for that extra height at a park with no Giga coasters?
This will work especially well in Texas, but arguably wasn't necessary at Canada's Wonderland.
