SFOG Announces GOLIATH!

I'm hoping make Atlanta part of the 2006 trip itinerary... hopefully gas prices will be under $3/gallon (off topic, sorrey).

Having done Raging Bull and Apollo's Chariot, I'm sure to love this version of GOLIATH. I'm wishing my home movie-themed park will follow suit in '07. *** Edited 9/1/2005 3:52:32 PM UTC by CoastersNSich***

Looks great to me! The helix, bunny, hammerhead combo should proove to be pretty great as long as the ride isnt trimmed at any point like Raging Bull.

It looks like it will be a fun coaster but those restraints don't allow for airtime in the sence that I describe airtime.

Voyage will be better and as smooth its first year :)

Chuck, just happy SFOG is getting another good ride.

Let's hope this one performs as well as it looks. I, for one, am happy to see B&M putting out a coaster that's closer to something Intamin might.

I'm loving that mid-course turn.I'm looking forward to this one. First new B&M that's caught my interest in a while.

I can recognize Keith's work from anywhere!

Nice job on the video!

It looks fun and I hope people will soon realize that simplicity is what can make a ride so successful. All it needs to be is fun, which is what Goliath looks to be.

no MCBR but only two trains...
Finally, an Update:

sfog.parktrips.com

I'll finish this afternoon and for some reason the style stuff isn't all working, but I'll fix that later.. now to class. Photos from the announcement to come later as well.

Looks very exciting--a great addition for SFoG.

I can't wait to check out the video when I get out of school.

Hmm... large trucks, please stay to the right lane while going under this coaster.

But, yeah. Wow. What a coaster, looks very nice, good sense of speed, and that turnaround is all downhill. Wow.

Too bad, a ride unworthy of it's name, IMO

How so^

IMO this coaster looks great and the name fits, heck it looks 10x better then SFMM Goliath.

I hear some complaints about two trains on the net, I have to ask where would the third train go. The ride is only 4800 feet with no MCBR how would SFOG run three trains. If they did and had trains stacked then that would just give people something else to complain about. Is coaster enthusiast ever happy?

Anyways this looks like it going to be a great coaster, I love how it hops over the road and ponds outside the park. That downward sprial looks nuts and the layout looks like it's going to have airtime galor so IMO I don't see where the complaints are comming from again are enthusiast ever happy? *** Edited 9/1/2005 7:05:38 PM UTC by westcoaster man***

If you think they are unhappy now. How will they be if there is a trim added somewhere in the layout? Not saying there will be but Oh the agony!...

This looks awesome kinda like Nitro but different. I wonder if I can talk someone into sending me to Atlanta for some training that ends of say a friday ;)

Watch the tram car please....
Raging Bull is 5,057 feet. Apollos Chariot is 4,882. While it's great to not have a MCBR, cutting capacity by 1/3 makes no sense to me. With a good crew, Raging Bull can run 3 trains with little or no stacking. Perhaps they decided to save the cost of the 3rd train.

Regardless, it looks like a great addition!!

Laugh your troubles away at Riverview, the world's largest amusement park.
Based on what I've been told, the ride cycle is:

Load ~:45
Lift ~:60
Ride ~:60
Unload ~:45
TOTAL ~3:30

From what I gather from the math, adding a 3rd train on the current layout would just end up stacking a train at the end - so why bother?

After all, there's no way to calm this baby down without a mid-course on the field.

I beleive SFOG now will hold the record for most B&M's at a park am I correct?

1. Batman
2. Scorcher
3. Superman
4. Goliath

I beleive thats the most. I hope I can go back. This looks to be an amazing coaster. One thing I noticed was there was no pre-drop that B&M usually does with their bigger coasters. There is one that comes to mind that doesn't have the pre-drop, Silver Star. But I beleive thats the only one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Tied with Great America and Great Adventure, each with four as well...

Certain victory.

Thanks Bob. :)

I found something that peaked my interest. I was taking a look see about Goliath on RCDB and it was in the category of a B&M sitdown. So I clicked on it and got this page. http://www.rcdb.com/installationresult.htm?column=1,10,3,4,5&order=1,2&model=125

Now my question is why they would put it in that category. Its a hyper. It doesn't have OTSR. Just curious as to why its put like that.

Nitro and Hydra don't have pre-drops either.

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Great news, kinda dissapointed it wasnt a Expedition G Force clone but im happy for Six Flags that they finally got their hyper coaster

And don't forget Alton Towers, and Magic Mountain is also very soon to join those parks in the "4 B&M Club."
