SFNE gets approval for new coaster.

the back seat and the front seat on Cyclone are like two completely different coasters. This ride is the closest you can get to the Crystal Beach Cyclone. If they did not alter the first drop it would be even more like it. the old first drop was VERY scary, FRIGHTENINGLY STEEP, but I guess the trains took a beating. *** This post was edited by sfne guy on 7/30/2001. ***

"I visited SFNE last week. Coasters are great! The one things that sucks the most is the seating! On all of the roller coasters you get very little choice, it's like Magnum where they let so many into the station, only SFNE only lets enough people through for one car so you can't wait behind anyone for a specific car or row! But it is really bad on S:RoS because it is not even that! On Superman they wasted their money on the queue in the station because it is never used, they let you in the gate at the very front where one operator usually stands and fill you in starting with front going to the back! It sucks! At least on MF you get some choice of seats unless you are the last through the turnstile.

You must have gone on a day when the gates in the station were broken. You usually can choose your seats on SROS.
hello! my interest is up. I've never been to SFNE, nor do I plan to go there. but news of stand ups is very exciting. for a long time I thought that stand ups had gone out of style. heck I considered Mantis to have been built after the craze. yet with one su a year from 96-99 and with these new sus being pannned, I'm starting to imagine a stand up come back! I realize that there aren't many sus and I also realize that there are fewer good sus and that's why I feel fortunate that I've got IW in my backyard.

How about a stand up with a Cobra Roll or Zerop G roll

What does weight have to do with height? That made no sense what-so-ever to me, so if someone could explain this to me, I would appreciate it. That makes 8 posts so far from sfne guy, 3 in a row.

yeah this is definitely going to advance SFNE. It is going to put it into the exclusive group od parks lucky enough to have a B&M. It is going to be unique and a great ride. i hope people come out and realize what a amazimg park SFNE can be if it gets a few more coasters and some more theming.
I like the town of rockville 1950 themeing.
so where is the coaster going? i heard it was going near the mind eraser and the old parking lot.
anyone have the specs for this bad boy?
is SFNE is near boston right, i may be going there next summer
not yet. and yes it will be going right besides Mind Eraser.
It said in the newspaper article that the new steel coaster was going to be 117ft. tall. This is about the same height as flying coasters but it doesn't make sense for a stand-up unless it goes underground.
XL-Force2000, you were unfortunate to visit when the gates on S:ROS were broken :(. I was there a couple weeks ago and had the same experience. I hate that but if its a choice between having the ride closed or no choice of seating, I'll take the no choice seating.

Does anyone know if the gates have been fixed?

I'm glad to see that SFNE will be getting a new coaster. *** This post was edited by Lisa Marie on 7/31/2001. ***
Coastaluva, where did you read that the new coaster is a go? I haven't seen anything official yet. If it goes through, it's going to be a small standup like The Georgia Scorcher. I hope they throw in a new element or something.

Lisa Marie, my friend was there yesterday and didn't mention anything about problems with the gates.
Lisa Marie: I was their last Friday and the gates were working, but only one train was running! The other train was getting maintenance.
I read it at www.tpne.8m.com
It's a good site for new england theme parks.
Read all of the past news about SFNE, it talks about the workers going to Great Adventure to do some investigation on Mudusa also.
and there was a news thing at www.themeparkcritic.com *** This post was edited by sfne guy on 7/31/2001. ***
I gotta say one thing here. just because most floorless coasters are so many feet tall doesn't mean that a floorless can't be 100 feet tall and have a layout simillar to smaller B&M's.

as for a zero-g roll on a stand up, well that might be a little hard. since the ride rotates around your heart line, the floors would have to move up instead of the seats moving down. there is such a difference in the heights of people that a zero-g roll might not work. on sit down rides all you have to factor in is height differences in torsos which are much smaller. however I do want to see more variety of elements on sus.
