SFNE Cyclone completely re tracked for 2002.

If you look next to the ride at the exit you will see a big pile of fresh wood all wrapped up, It looks like the rumor is true Cyclone will be a smoothie come 2002.
Cool, maybe I can get my dad to let me go to SFNE as well as al the other parks i'm going to next summer on the East Coast.

They already re-tracked  the first drop and changed the depth of the drop. the re-tracking  should greatly improve the ride but I wish the first drop was changed back to the original twisted insane drop.
What did the original drop look like? Anyone have pics?

me too, all It did is prove that SF cant manage to maintain woodies. The re tracking should increase the coasters speed, making the climax of the coaster more dangerous than ever!
go to www.coastergallery.com or www.joyrides.com  or go to yahoo and put SFNE Cyclone.
Hmm, If you had paid attention, that wood has been there all season. Since the first drop retracking. I and others reported this back in May or so. The reason for the first drop which was retracked in 2001 is not being painted is because they are just going to repaint the whole structure for 2002.  Also not the whole coaster is going to be retracked, just key parts.  Just giving you guys some information...  -Chris
was there any information given at Supermania about the new Beemer headed to SFNE? I really like to have some more info sometime soon! (you can call me impaitent)
Congratulations to the SFNE regulars!!!  A little retracking now and then can add years to a coaster's life AND make for a much-improved ride - enjoy !

ummm panicmainic, who said I didnt see it there all season?
Personally, I didn't find SFNE Cyclone to berough at all! Maybe its because I am so accustomed to the Predator @ SFDL... Maybe they should ship that wood here instead, and maybe they could actually work on it rather then having the wood sit there two whole seasons :-P.

Jeff, you are the best! Thank you for your hard work, and your awesome site!

Really? The Predator must be really violent then...Ill have to ride it!
The Predator is really violent. It stinks too. I road it Sunday and couldn't believe how bad it was. Its like a mini Beast without speed.

so it makes Cyclone look smooth? wow it must be bad! It looks like a simple out and back from the photos.
S.F.N.E. has butchered the Riverside Cyclone.  When I first rode this ride it quickly became my #3 favorite woodie!  It is a sad day when someone else's designs are tampered with and altered.  This ride will never be what it once was. Sad!
have you rode the coaster with the new first drop?

I used to think that the Cyclone was rough but compared to some other woodies out there its about average. Though I do still have a scar on my leg from that first drop last year, before this years retracking. Still, in light of that, Cyclone is not rough when compared to either Beast's at PKI, Mean Streak, Predator, or Raging Wolf Bobs.

When they retrack it they should make the first drop go all the way to the ground so it can get more speed. I get soooo scared on cyclone because the lap bars are so high. I love rides where you think your gonna fall out. And Cyclone is the best. Its even scarier than superman but not as good. The new retracking better be better than last years.

What will it be? Floorless or Standup?

Ouch! All the way to the ground? Actually, The Cyclone is smooth as glass. It just has balls, so it feels rough. Not every wooden coaster ride should feel like Lightning Racer.

This goes to show you that it is not Six Flags. It's the individual parks!

This a good one of the drop.
