SFMM's Sky Tower reopens after 4 years of SBNO

Yup! Today, alongside Tatsu's official opening, Sky Tower finally reopened and operated for the first time in more than four years. Along with the completely repainted exterior, the observation deck on top has also received new carpeting and paint. It looks very nice, and of course the views are SPECTACULAR from 384-feet up!

I'm glad to see the park shaping up after a few years of having gone down into the dumps. Changes happening around the park due to the new management can EASILY be noted.

Great to hear! I might actually go back there now despite a slightly disappointing visit in 04.

That's great news, kRaX! With the reviews of Tatsu and all the other changes that people have been reporting this season it is encouraging to hear that the park -- and the guest experience -- is on the mend and headed in the right direction.

Any word on Orient Express?

Moosh, the supposed tentative reopening date for Orient Express is sometime in June. When I was at the park yesterday for the Tatsu preview event, I noted that a good deal of Orient Express' track was covered in a huge mound of dirt. My guess is that the park wanted to put all effort and concentration in getting Tatsu and Sky Tower ready for this weekend, before moving on to work on Orient Express.

Cool, thanks! Did you happen to notice any changes to the upper station, i.e. queue or entrance/exit? I hope riders still exit at the top of the mountain and have not been rerouted to other [lower] location.
^ The entire queue entrance area is brand new. Parts of the former Japanese Gardens that was taken out to accomodate Tatsu have made a new home in the new Sky Tower queue area. It looks very nice. And the exit and entrance paths spill into the same area now.

Hmmm...sounds like that end of the top of the mountain has seen a slight redesign. I look forward to seeing it...eventually ;)
Is Flashback open or SBNO? I am taking my annual coaster trip in june and july and I want to judge FB on it's roughness. Also is Psyclone open?
Oh, it's more than just SBNO, it's completely abandoned. The queue entry area has been boarded up by walls and I've heard all electrical feeding to the ride has been cut off. LOL. Nobody really knows what's to become of it. Hopefully, come next season, we'll see what path Flashback takes, given what Shapiro wants in regards to what to do with the ride.

But yes, Psyclone and Deja Vu reopened together on Thursday May 10 after both having been in rehab for a month or two.

Any panoramic shots of Tatsu out yet? Like that old Revolution pic? :):):)

Yes there are in fact, but you'd have to visit a certain website that can't be accessed through a link on CoasterBuzz. Their latest update has birds-eye-view shots of Tatsu from Sky Tower. Three letters for you: TPR. :)

Oh ya, before I forget, in addition to all the Looney Tunes and Justice League characters out and about at the park, the park has staffed "Ninjas" to hang out and about atop the hill at the Samurai Summit themed area by Sky Tower and Ninja. That's a really nice touch I think

Cant wait to ride Tatsu and Sky Tower in October :) *** Edited 5/15/2006 5:38:53 PM UTC by SkyRider7***
Will Ninja reopen any time soon?

That would be awesome if all of Samurai Summit was re-opened by the next time I visit. Last few years that place has been a complete ghost town with all the rides down.

^ Um...Ninja has been operating, what made you think it was closed?
^In the last 3 years it has not run at all during the winter season.
Wow, that's good to hear. I was starting to think they were going to completely give up on the Sky Tower since it looked like the Tatsu queue area was going to take over the tower queue area.

Glad to hear Orient Express will reopen too. Finally the summit will be worth visiting again.

Would I be pushing it if I still have hopes for Metro????
