SFMM employee struck and killed by coaster today

My take is that are all different, and we find humor and sadness in different things.

On the flip side, this is De ja Vu....

I remember this same debate when the young lady died on Raven. And even now I am just blown away by how insensitive humans can be sometimes. Ofcourse you can't take on the burden of this world by being sad for evreyone that dies. I am sure thousands of people die every second....but still, if her family or anyone that knew her were to read some of these comments, I'm sure they'd be hurt. Thats just my opinion, not trying to get into a skirmish with anyone *** Edited 4/13/2004 9:40:20 PM UTC by Antuan***

Fate is the path of least resistance.

"It sure would be interesting to go to the employee's funeral and ask 'What was going through her head?' I'm sure those in attendance wouldn't come to the conclusion it was meant to be a joke."

Joke or not, a funeral is NOT the appropriate time to be having that discussion.

At least there's one other grown up here who gets it...

Nope - I'd reckon there are plenty but they just don't want to dignify the comments of some.

My perception of this thread is that the family or friends of the deceased may, remotely, come across it. For that reason I have held back from posting until now.

Zero G - whilst I can appreciate your sense of humour I find your timing to be very off. Your defence earlier about others interpreting your post is crap - you tagged that comment with a hook to tie it to the 'joke' that perpetuates. Don't claim innocence when you load the question.

I'm not even sure of the point I am making anymore but it sticks in my gut that some on here see fit to 'enjoy' this aspect of our hobby/pastime/whatever.

How about showing some compassion?

Wow...you really don't get it, do you Zero-G?

Your last post is so completely and totally wrong I just don't know where to begin. I just hope that when you lose someone close to you, and you will, people treat you with more respect, dignity, and compassion than you're showing here.

You don't have to feel bad for them 'friend' - how about showing empathy instead? Maybe a few days, a few weeks or a few months?

I just find your comments tacky. Sorry.

I'm not denying your opinion or right to feel how you want, I'm trying to convey to you that there is an appropriate time and an inappropriate time to convey one's feelings and beliefs. That's not a rule just for you, it is a rule I have to live by as well.

It looks like we'll just have to agree to disagree on this matter.

Being tactless would be telling someone who knew her it was funny. This, however, is different. Do any of you know her? Are any of your lives drastically changed now that she is gone? How can you have so much emotion for someone you've never met and had it not been for news, or the internet, you would have never known was alive or dead? *** Edited 4/14/2004 2:04:08 AM UTC by SFoGswim***
Ok, this has been an interesting peice, now I have a question. Would you all still feel compassion if her death was deliberate, and yes I am prodding at the idea that it was in fact a successful suicide...
In my best Bill O'Reilly impression: Well I wasn't implying that at all and that was a very uneducated guess, I might add. If you had been paying attention to my posts, clearly you would have seen the direction in which I was headed... Perhaps, I was trying to "shake the tree" to see who would reconsider their feelings for this girl, and no Mr. rentzy it was not to encourage more humor....
Zero-G, if you don't expect people to agree with you, then you shouldn't get pissed off when they don't.

The fact that this tragedy occurred at all is something that the coaster community does not need, regardless of the reasons as to why it happened, and who it happened to.

And on top of that, the coaster community as a whole definitely does NOT need that kind of attitude shown publicly by anyone. You cannot seriously believe that it helps anyone or anything.

Steve

In a nutshell, I'm calling you all liberal hippies (for those criticizing zero-g's macabre humor, and no that was not a compliment). : )

OK, what if she did commit suicide and did it that way so people would think it was funny?
