SFKK to receive coaster in 2003

Shaggy:

I enjoy Screamscape, too, but after seeing "Sources say Shockwave is headed to SFAW" - which came directly from our joke here on C-buzz - I began to wonder when Lance would post "Sources say Shockwave will be split in two and sent to SFAw and another undisclosed SF park." LOL!

Have fun in L'ville ;-)

I got to agree with Moosh that this could easily be where the orange intamin track was headed. I too am thinking impulse.

Strike - thanks for the vote of confidence but I have no proof or inside info that SFKK is getting an Intamin. Its just a hunch based on Shaggy's "footer" rumor.

However upon thinking about it more, perhaps Holiday World took a bigger bite out of SFKK attendance than previously thought, and with HW's $3+ million expansion for 2003 Six Flags want to counter with a new attraction.

Anyway...we'll know soon enough!

Haven't you all heard? SFKK wants to break the record for the tallest park bench in the world. Those new footer markings are for the new giga bench that SF is installing there for next season. Look for this to be SF's next cloned item for each of their parks... ;)

Sorry, I'm just not as funny as most people. Either way, Shockwave or Viper from SFoG, it means something new for SFKK, and that ain't a bad thing. Of course, doesn't do me any good right now because I won't be able to get to SFKK for at least another year or two. It's good to know that another credit will be waiting for me though... ;)

Justin

but itsn't Viper/Tidal Wave just rusting away in the parking lot of SFOG?

it would take some major overhaul to fix that...

Thanks for SAVING THE WHIZZER!! it couldn't happen to a better ride...

Moosh, I didn't figure you did have any insider info, but I still think its a good hunch ;).

I may have been the one responsible for the Viper to SFKK *rumor* when I suggested it at Viper's farewell. I really didn't think of it as a rumor, because to me it's just good marketing and business sense. What was SFKK lacking? For a standard, sit-down, steel coaster their offering was a Rollerskater...I absolutely LOVE those little guys - my name rhymes with rollerskater......but it's not what you'd call an "adult" coaster. (I may not be what you'd call an "adult" either, but that's for another forum entirely, LOL). Seriously, back on topic, a sit-down looper with a *compact footprint* and not "too many" loops, without those horrid OTSRs (thanks largely to enthusiasts, mind you), that will provide another *intense ride*, that won't go TOO high (airport next door)....c'mon, I really did HAVE a point there. But, the Impulses have become "the next Boomerang"....credit to whoever coined THAT one....and as a thrill-seeker, I'm a happy gator! And, now that I think about it, I really DO want Viper re-installed, but a *non-inverting* launch shuttle sit-down MAY be the better investment for SFKK....

...now, back to MY question...who's getting Viper? If SF doesn't send it somewhere soon, I may have to build a little park somewhere with it, the Schwarzkopf Wildcat I've had my eye on for so long (italintl people know what I'm talking about), and the SBNO woodie in TN....

bill, keepin' it in the Southeast....

Just to fuel the flames of controversy once again...

This time last year, I heard reports that SFKK was getting an Intamin impulse with dual twisting spires... how weird that it was scrapped and Cedar Point ended up purchasing the first one.....Could it be that SFKK is hoping to bank on WT's success for 2003????

Things that make you go HMMMMMMMMM...

Well, if its true better SFKK than Astroworld!

LOL!

You have to admit, Screamscape is probably a lot more reliable than most other rumor sites.

Well, Viper, Shockwave...either would be great for SFKK, as I miss both rides and would love to have the chance to continue to ride them without having to drive across the country. An Impulse would also be great for them, as far as having an excellent ride to compete with PKI or HW, but unless it were a double twisting model, I personally would be excited about it, as I can go to SFGAm for that. No matter what, it's great that they are getting improvements. I like Louisville & SFKK. They got off to a great start before SF owned them, and I'd love to see them continue to improve.

I still love the Inverted log flume rumor I put out on another board for what was to become TR:TR.

People even reported back to me that they overheard people mentioning that PKI was getting a inverted log flume :)

Chuck, who was surprised Lance didn't post that one.

Is it about coasters or friends? I say both!

rollergator,

Ital lists the Wildcat as sold unfortunately. However, there is now a Jet Star I and Jumbo Jet listed. Sounds good to me :)

I was just there last weekend, and I truely don't think there is alot of room for a coaster the size of Shockwave. Unless they move alot of the front of the park to the back! I agree that the front of the park needs a BIG coaster, I just don't know what would fit there! Also, would it kill them to freshen up the paint, put trees up in the back of the park and make Twisted Twins look like its a great ride, not a run down coaster.

I seem to think that Shockwave will not be installed for the 2003 season.

I could be wrong though the only announcement that has been made for the '03 season is the new coaster for SFGADV.

I just hope that it goes somewhere and not the junk yard at one of the Six Flags Parks.

I also wouldnt count on Shockwave being "re-born" next season. Possibly for 2004, but there is no way that a SF can get footers poured and that thing installed before Spring, 2003. They would have to have started at least digging for footers by now.

You'd be surprised how many rumors Lance receives on a weekly basis. He runs most of them by his "trusted sources" to see if they have any validity. Before Moosh's "false rumor" Lance had received info that Shockwave was indeed going to Astroworld. How do I know??? Because he asked me if it was a valid rumor or not. He and I speak via e-mail weekly regarding lots of things.

Some things Lance has a good source on, others not. He did have the Tomb Raider blueprints last May. You guys gotta give him some credit now...

Chris G - Speaking for myself, I didn't mean to infer anything negative in my comments about Lance. Sorry if it appeared that way. I enjoy his sight immensely.

For a brief period Six Flags tried to figure out how they could squeeze it into the park, but they came to their senses that it was a bad idea and it's definitely not happening now. I'm doubting that it'll really go anywhere.

As far as SFKK goes, that area around the Tin Lizzies is right next to the road that cuts through the middle of the park. Some sort of shuttle's basically all that could possibly fit there.

SFKK couldn't be getting Shockwave because SFKK has a 150 ft. construction limit due to the airport which is right next door. Shockwave is some 180 ft. tall I would see them getting an impulse too because they are 180 ft., unless they construct it like the one at SFMW
