SFGAm Recent Roller Coasters

In these 3 years (2001-03), SFGAm has gotten 3 new roller coasters. (V2, Deja Vu, the new one next year, most likely SUF.) I have noticed that none of these are original (except for Deja Vu, which is not completely original, just a Boomerang design). I, for one, am angered that parks like SFMM, SFGAd, and SFWoA are getting all the new designs. I do not know why, since SFGAm is in a largely populated area, near Chicago, and gets a lot of guests. I hope that in the near future SFGAm gets a new, new, coaster, like X, or X-Flight. I'm not trying to be selfish, but maybe I am, but I hope at least we get a new coaster with a new layout soon.

If you agree, or if you don't, please feedback. And thank you for not flaming me.

Top 3, no order: S:ROS (SFNE), MF, BTR (SFGAm)

Yeah I can definately see what you're saying about the non-original designs. SFGAm has a lot of unoriginal rides if you think. I really don't think SFGAm will have anymore room for another new big original coaster, unless they demolish another one.

Anyways, a coaster is a coaster and the thrill is still there. With or without originality, the ride's still awesome. Better than nothing at all.

1: SFMM has a deja vu just like GAm

2: GAdv is getting the same S:UF clone as GAm

3: Be angered that there are peolpe sleeping outside in sub-freezing weather because they have nowhere else to go, not because some 12 million dollar machine has a twin hundreds of miles away.

...never satisfied...

I consider this a minor slump in SFGA history. give them time, they will work themselves out of this rut. look at what they did with IW, BTR, Viper, and RB.

Do any of you know how to build a sundial out of a pen and a donut?
uh oh, sounds like someone has a case of the mondays.

2Hostyl, did you not want to really make the person feel dumb? SFWoA has a Vekoma boomerang, SLC, and dutchmen, all clones, and one of their woodies is a loose clone of a classic.

Does it really matter if SFGAm gets a clone? The park is a clone park. Shockwave and Batman were cloned, Demon has a clone, Whizzer had a clone, and Viper, V2, Spacely, and Deja Vu are clones. The only original coasters are American Eagle and Iron Wolf. Hell, the park itself is a clone! This isn't something from the past three years, it's been happening since 1976.

Blah, who gives a crap. All of the rides at SFGAM are great, clones or not.

Its when you clone an already bad ride that I have a problem IE SLC's.

Well, think of it from a business standpoint:

Hundreds of Thousands of vistors per season, and only few hundred enthusiasts.

300 ppl complain, 300,000+ ppl dont even know the ride is a clone, nor would they care.

When i hear ppl in school talk about coasters, they dont even compare it to anything, they just talk about the ride in general. That they liked it or disliked it. They dont say "FoF was cool, but Jokers Jinx wasnt cool because it does the same thing."

The parks rarely care about enthusiasts opinions. If they can save money by building a clone, then they are gonna do it. I would do the same...no point in spending extra money, especially when people dont know the difference.

Here's something that most of you people don't understand...

The general public doesn't know that these rides are clones. They think, for the most part, that they're getting a new and interesting ride. Even if they did know that "thier" ride was not original, they probably wouldn't care.

Why I'm not going to say that I'm satisfied with a clone as an enthusiast, I will say that I understand how things work with big parks and the GP...

Laugh your troubles away at Riverview, the world's largest amusement park.

Oh you whiners need to shutup and get over yourselves. A new ride is a new ride, be thankful. "Similar", "clone" or not, be more appreciative. Think about yourself stuck and living in the middle of Utah with no Great America "clones" to even ride.

Word to the comments about the GP not caring. That's exactly the point.

In addition, I don't think SF NEEDS to go all out for SFGAm (it is nice that they gave us Bull) because I don't consider it to have any major competition. WoA has CP, MM has Disney/Knott's and the NoCal parks.

Well Bill I tend to like Boomerangs and Vekoma/Arrow megaloopers, yet I despise the filth that is a Vekoma SLC.

Go figure.

AGH! B:TR was the original. That's your new, new coaster for this 20 years. Jeez. The park is SFGAM. You know what the SF stands for? Six Flags. Six Flags is smart when it comes to roller coasters and they know the GP doesn't care! So why get a new, good $15 million coaster when you can get a new, good $3 million coaster. The price drops DRASTICALLY.

And how about you be glad you get a coaster EVERY YEAR. Or that you live in a good country like the USA. And that your family isn't begging on the streets.

I can think of far more important things to be angry about. Not to mention most park visitors don't care or know if the ride is a copy of one elsewhere.

Glad we're having CoasterBuzzCon there!

We got the first, and to this day uncloned (I think...) B&M Coaster, Iron Wolf.

We have a dueling monster airtime woodie in American Eagle.... Also an original.

We have the original, and likely best themed BT:R

We have the only B&M Hyper in the US not on the east coast, also the US's first Hyper-Twister, Raging Bull.

We've gotten more coasters in the past few years than some parks have at all....

And you're whining about a clone of a good ride?

*blink*

X-Flight is NEW? It's a slightly modified version of Stealth, man. It's as "new" as Wicked Twister.... how many people call that a genuinely NEW design?

Have you ridden Wicked Twister?

I second, third, fourth, or whatever the point about the GP not giving two schnits about whether the coaster is a clone. Great America may have lots of clones but they are without exception (especially now with Shockwave being history) all great clones unlike most Six Flags parks which have boomerangs or SLCs or some other painful clone.

The only clone I could say would be questionable in that park is Delay Ja Vu and that is only because of it's horrible capacity and horrible down time percentages. But if you look at it, Superman, Batman, Viper, V2, Deja Vu, Demon are all great coasters even if they exist somewhere else.

"Sorry folks, park's closed. The moose out front should've told you."

You know I would feel great if my homepark would have nothing but clones, I wouldn't complain at all instead my homepark has the most disappointing of all clones, Open Space!

Next time someone complains about having clones they should be banished to either SFDL,SFEG,SFAW, then they will have something to complain about!

Kick the Sky, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you've ridden DV, have you? I'll take it even with its problems. And it was a new design the year it came out, even if two other parks were getting it as well.

SF takes very good care of this park. There's nothing to complain about.

Bull fan, never said anything about the ride itself, just it's other problems. Never said it was a bad addition to the park either.

EDIT: Also remember it was the problems I mentioned, low capacity and frequent downtime that kept me from riding it at all.
