SFGAM new rides? Any?

I don't know why, but B:TR has gotten more and more crowded. They had to build an extension to the quene. I bet you by the next coaster, the park will be soo jammed, you'll see people parking on the street. THEY NEED MORE LAND!!!

What are you talkijng about? they didnt build an "extension" to Batmans line? i dont think ive ever seen that line full since before 94. The original line goes over the water to the other side of the bridge

The overflow cue's were full alot this year, however I did not see it back up to the bridge...

Mojo, are the flats your talking about a Top Spin and a Huss (I forgot the name). Thats probobly not going to happen.
i say they should repaint retheme and reassemble shockwave and try to pass it off as a new ride. i bet a good 50%+ of the GP wouldnt realize until after they rode it.
I posted this in another thread but here goes again. I will bet a nickle (yes, I am poor) that NO Six Flags park in the United States will get any new rides this winter. All cap-ex will be spent on existing infrastructure. Take it for what its worth.

Just a couple of G-Force junkies!

Six Flags will add new rides, most likely to the smaller parks. Bigger parks like SFGAm, SFGAdv, and SFMM will be seeing new thrill rides considering there costs. Also with the addition of the 2 S:UF's and Scream all three aren't due for a new coaster intill 2005 considering Six Flags every 2 years for the top 3 parks. As for attendance at SFGAm this year was the most crowded in awhile. The reason for this is that since Six Flags was low in attendance that chose to use some of their big parks to bring it up. Starting in the beginning of August, SFGAm began selling buy one ticket get one free all the way through the end of September. This sparked the attendance big time, every day was a busy day, even the weekends in September. Fright Fest had many discounts in the park's for coming back and the cheap ticket price at a local Jewel store brought many people in for the event. 2003 for SFGAm was one of the busiest, lines and crowds were really bad.

Thankfully, you'd lose your bet. :)

a dark ride (for the life of me I dont understand why we dont have one already

Because they're beyond low capacity and a park like SFGAm can't handle (nor should they attempt to handle) a ride such as that. And people complain about long lines on new rides now!!

-Nate

Nate. Is that really the reason we don't have one? Deja-Vu, V2?

Any addition to a park is a good thing because it spreads out the lines. PKI added a Scooby Doo dark ride and its attendance is slightly higher than SFGAm. It was a good move on PKI's part and it would be a good move on SFGAm's part.

Sally-brand dark rides ROCK! :)

Personally, I think some of these LARGE parks might want to think about the increased capacity of installing "dueling cars" like you get on MiB....just a thought, next year may very well post some BIG jumps in attendance!

SFGAm probably will get SOME new goodie this year (SF apparently spent the 75M we were expecting and then some, LOL) An interactive dark ride could be a good way to appeal to a wide demographic AND do it within a budget (not that THAT appears to have been a real concern, hmmmmm)...;)

Bottomline: SFGAm needs to install flat rides. Doesn't matter if its high capacity or not. The key is getting a few of these in and spreading them out in the park.

GA has one of the best varieties of coasters in the country. Its time to focus on the other options out there.

'Gators' idea of dueling cars on a darkride would be a plus but any ride installed to spread the crowds out would be essential.

The theory behind Deja Vu and V2 was that by adding two new coasters in a year, it would effectively increase capacity. That is, SFGAm effectively installed V2 and Deja Vu as one ride with pretty decent capacity instead of two rides with low capacity. I'll let you decide for yourself whether that worked or not.

I don't know the specifics of PKI's dark ride or its capacity, but I can imagine lines get pretty darn long. PKI also did the same thing SFGAm did when they added their two low capacity rides by adding Delirium as well. Additionally, PKI's dark ride was not new, but rather a re-theme.

Any addition is not necessarily a bad thing because it draws in *more* people. It is possible to add a new ride to spread out lines, but the only way to do that is to add the new ride and not market it (and I think you'll have a hard time convincing SFGAm to do that). *If* SFGAm is going to ever add a dark ride (which I personally believe they never will), it *must* be high capacity. There are a couple of options out there, but they're far more expensive than your average Sally.

Steering slightly off course for a moment... could someone elaborate on the coolness of the Sally dark ride? I've only ridden the Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion at SFFT, and was completely unimpressed. Maybe it was overlit, or maybe it just wasn't paced well, but I didn't feel immersed in the experience at all. I've seen footage of MiB, and it looks fun, but Scooby just seemed like a cheap imitation.

Did SFFT get a stripped-down version or something? I'm wondering if the black-light aspect of the ride subverted the "dark" concept...

Colin D, who's mistakenly purchased fluorescent black lights without the "black" filter.

I also love the idea for a good interactive dark ride!!!!!
If i had my way i would get rid of the go-karts and the Space Shuttle attraction and use that area for a nice interactive dark ride.
Yes, the park is really going to remove a popular upcharge attraction to install a low capacity dark ride that could be built anywhere else in the park.

If I had my way, I'd keep the Space Shuttle America queue and build an indoor family roller coaster in place of the simulator (expanding into the parking lot, of course, as a coaster requires much more space than a simple theatre) along the lines of Skull Mountain. This would add a great family attraction to the park, while being high capacity AND a dark ride at the same time.

Nate. Relax!!

People are just throwing ideas around. Get off the capacity kick for a minute. :)

After visiting PKI for the first time this past July, all other parks that I have been to are sorry in the kids area department. SFGAm has plenty of room in one of their kids areas to do some more expanding which could include some type of mouse coaster.

Nate??? Don't reply with a capacity issue. :)

Well what do you expect? SFGAm is one of the highest-attended parks in the country. A park that draws 3 million guests each summer does not need a ride with capacity under 400pph. Deja Vu and V2 are even more of a reason for the park not needing additional low capacity rides. If SF is smart (which I believe they have been with SFGAm) they'll continue to add high-capacity attractions. That keeps everyone happy.

Forgive me if I look at things realistically rather than drooling over a ridiculous wild mouse.

-Nate

But you also have to look at things multi-realistically. I agree with most of what you are saying, nate, but you can add a High Capacity ride that breezes people thru, but if no on rides it, its not going to do anything for the park. Sometimes Large parks have to think about Family Rides such as Dark rides and Wild Mouse Rides.

You were right about PKIs dark ride, it was rethemed, and though I haven't been since the retheme, I can say that the origional was a decent people mover, and very popular. Dark Rides can be a good addition, even with slightly lower capacity, if its what the people want.

Apparently large parks do listen to customers a little bit, otherwise, SFGAm would still have Shockwave...

Gets ready for nate to bash, helmet on....;)

Case & point for TecknoScorpion: ShockWave. It was a high capacity ride that nobody rode (referring to recent years).
