Ooops. Forgot this thread was already in existence.
Did anyone catch how they had a camera on the family from a distance when they werent interviewing them and the girl was smiling, but as soon as the camera panned down on the family asking questions, the daughter was in tears?
"Makes ya wonder, doesnt it?"

What kind of proof do we have that AE was in fact designed to go backwards? They may be right given the fact that to my knowledge, AE has only run backwards for two seasons of its 20+ year existance...

I was riding the roller coaster attraction, following all written procedural guidelines and suddenly, the ride..um...LINE!...oh yea, um...the ride abruptly changed directions... lol.
I saw several reactions to this situation this morning, all of them seemed to be the same. Not one person I know believes there is any credibility to this blasphemy.

OK i go to SFGAm every single friday in summer and i can tell you that AE backwards is almost as smooth as viper!! and if that wasn't enough, they put freakin trims that bring you almost to a complete stop at the top of the fourth hill (entering the gigantic helix and a half)!!!! they do have the trims on the forward side also but it barely slows down that side at all!! that's why the forwaards side takes atleast 30 seconds shorter than the backwards side. AND if that wasn't enough.... they also put trims that bring you practically to a stop at the helix and the very end of the ride!!! of course the forwards side barely has them again!! i cannot see how AE is not designed to go backwards!!
btw- It's an excellent ride, even with the trims!

1st thing: You don't know if the girl and her family are just "trying to get money". My guess is that they actually believe that the ride is what caused her aneurysm to burst and that it was because it was a "dangerous ride" or something out of the ordinary. Once they understand everything about the condition and how and when it can happen, maybe they will back down if they're decent people. I actually hope they just don't understand for now and don't just want money. But you know how upset your parents would be if something happened to you at a park or wherever. They may think it was the ride's fault if they didn't know better.
2nd thing: You, yes you, can get an aneurysm! You may think that you're immune to something like this since you're an enthusiast and this could only happen to the GP, but that's not the case. 4-5% of the entire population in the United States has aneurysms. They don't always burst though. Just try to keep healthy and they will decrease the chances of them occuring just like most other diseases.
3rd thing: Coasters will NOT give you an aneurysm. But it's possible that they could cause them to burst, but even with people who have small aneurysms, its pretty unlikely. It's possible though.
4th thing: In the case of the girl and most young people that have aneurysms burst, it usually comes from a pre-existing condition of being weak when they were born, but you can also get them from high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, inflammation,
5th thing: Aneurysms are natural and there really isn't anything we can blame them on when they burst. Same as having a heart attack on a coaster. And I don't believe that's usually reported on the news.
6th thing: You can still have a brain hemmorage from being extremely "jostled" or having a bad head injury without having an aneurysm.
7th thing: I've been wrong before. ;)

It was just on the news here in Cleveland and I remember the girl saying it was in the pretzel loop.

What if someone died of cancer on a ride? Should the family sue the park then?
Also, by sueing SFGAm that's saying that SF does bad operation of the ride or doesn't inspect it enough. I thought the claim was that the ride was designed poorly(which I don't think has anything to do with an aneurysm, anyway). But I believe Intamin designed the ride, not SF.
