SFGAm and Bleeding in the brain

Ooops. Forgot this thread was already in existence.

Did anyone catch how they had a camera on the family from a distance when they werent interviewing them and the girl was smiling, but as soon as the camera panned down on the family asking questions, the daughter was in tears?

"Makes ya wonder, doesnt it?"

Wow. What a buch of greedy bloodsucking losers. It's these kinds of people that piss me off. Where does AE running backwards fit into any equation? Someone needs to tatoo this onto their heads... It doens't matter if she was pushing a turd out of her greedy ass, sneezing, flying in an airplane, or riding "a rollercoaster that wasn't meant to run backwards", if she had a pre-exisisting condition from the start, then she was damned from the start. I'm sorry if I don't sound the least bit sympathetic, but I'd sound a hell of a lot kinder if they didn't try to milk the situation for all it's worth. I hope SFGAm wins and gives them diddly squat.

I just hope SF doesn't settle like they have for all their previous lawsuits...
shockwave is such a rough ride. definently a "Never Ride Again" coaster. I felt like i'd had an aneurysm after i rode so i can certainly see someone else having one. So many Arrow coasters are rough as h*ll. (not X)

Playing Devil's advocate here:

What kind of proof do we have that AE was in fact designed to go backwards? They may be right given the fact that to my knowledge, AE has only run backwards for two seasons of its 20+ year existance...

Did anyone notice that both the girl AND the lawyer used the word "jostled" to describe what happened to her head. How many little girls in 7th grade do you know that use the word jostled in a normal sentence? Me thinks the lawyer scripted what she was to say on camera. They are going to try and milk this for all it is worth. These people make me sick!

Americain Eagel's designer (Intamin) designed the ride to be a racing coaster with optional backwards running capability. Also if it wasnt meant to go backwards it wouldn't be running backwards now would it?

LOL, KTS......I can see the interview with the girl now: "I was riding in the coaster, following all verbal and written procedural guidelines, and suddenly the ride abruptly changed directions, giving me a contusion which has permanently affected me adversely. I feel that it is the responsibility of the defendant in the case is to compensate me for the potential reduction in the long-term enjoyability of other rides of this type whose forces may be objectionable to some"....

I was riding the roller coaster attraction, following all written procedural guidelines and suddenly, the ride..um...LINE!...oh yea, um...the ride abruptly changed directions... lol.

I saw several reactions to this situation this morning, all of them seemed to be the same. Not one person I know believes there is any credibility to this blasphemy.

OK i go to SFGAm every single friday in summer and i can tell you that AE backwards is almost as smooth as viper!! and if that wasn't enough, they put freakin trims that bring you almost to a complete stop at the top of the fourth hill (entering the gigantic helix and a half)!!!! they do have the trims on the forward side also but it barely slows down that side at all!! that's why the forwaards side takes atleast 30 seconds shorter than the backwards side. AND if that wasn't enough.... they also put trims that bring you practically to a stop at the helix and the very end of the ride!!! of course the forwards side barely has them again!! i cannot see how AE is not designed to go backwards!!

btw- It's an excellent ride, even with the trims!

I hate to say this, but all this talk about her getting hurt on Eagle backwards probably will spell doom to any further riding of this coaster backwards. I think it sucks because I went on it last Sunday and have decided that is the ONLY way I want to ride Eagle. At least I got to ride it once that way. :(

"So you think your'e really brave, gonna see the DEMONS cave.
You silly dude, your'e only food, for the DEMON"

This girl is nuts. Alls she is doing is trying to get money. I really hope Six Flags wins the case. I mean seriously how many of us think American Eagle backwards is frickin smooth? Like all of us buzzers. I think they should get there story straight first. I'm not buying any of there crap. It's a made up story. "Oh, America Eagle (backwards) hurt me." "I'm going to sue you" People like this ruin the fun of amusement parks. I know shockwave can be a little rough at times but, still I think if they add trims after loops everything will be fine and it'll be just like Viper (sfmm)
Note: I'm not a doctor, this is just what I understand. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

1st thing: You don't know if the girl and her family are just "trying to get money". My guess is that they actually believe that the ride is what caused her aneurysm to burst and that it was because it was a "dangerous ride" or something out of the ordinary. Once they understand everything about the condition and how and when it can happen, maybe they will back down if they're decent people. I actually hope they just don't understand for now and don't just want money. But you know how upset your parents would be if something happened to you at a park or wherever. They may think it was the ride's fault if they didn't know better.

2nd thing: You, yes you, can get an aneurysm! You may think that you're immune to something like this since you're an enthusiast and this could only happen to the GP, but that's not the case. 4-5% of the entire population in the United States has aneurysms. They don't always burst though. Just try to keep healthy and they will decrease the chances of them occuring just like most other diseases.

3rd thing: Coasters will NOT give you an aneurysm. But it's possible that they could cause them to burst, but even with people who have small aneurysms, its pretty unlikely. It's possible though.

4th thing: In the case of the girl and most young people that have aneurysms burst, it usually comes from a pre-existing condition of being weak when they were born, but you can also get them from high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, inflammation,

5th thing: Aneurysms are natural and there really isn't anything we can blame them on when they burst. Same as having a heart attack on a coaster. And I don't believe that's usually reported on the news.

6th thing: You can still have a brain hemmorage from being extremely "jostled" or having a bad head injury without having an aneurysm.

7th thing: I've been wrong before. ;)

Koaster King, I believe you are mostly right, but I feel that even if the parents do see that their kid had a preexisting condition, I just know that they're going to have the green in their mind and are going to still go after getting the money from the park. It's sad but true. Personally, I know I wouldn't do that, but I don't expect people to be as honest as me, I get too frustrated expecting that. Anyway, they should've done the research before filing the suit, which makes me still believe that they just want to pass of all of their problems to other people and the people that patronise them.

Kick the sky, the girl is in 6th grade but thats not the point. Also did anyone notice how in the first segment on the 1st the lawyer said that here head was hurt in the Pretzel Looping area of the ride. I was thinking, EAGEL DOSEN'T GO UPSIDE DOWN!!! this lawyer is just some old fart looking for a commission from an expensive law suit!

It was just on the news here in Cleveland and I remember the girl saying it was in the pretzel loop.

They must have meant the small helix turns that are at the end of the ride. Or perhaps the beginning. From a bird's eye view, it would look like a pretzel.
Lawyers aren't enthusiasts and won't define each element correctly.

What if someone died of cancer on a ride? Should the family sue the park then?

Also, by sueing SFGAm that's saying that SF does bad operation of the ride or doesn't inspect it enough. I thought the claim was that the ride was designed poorly(which I don't think has anything to do with an aneurysm, anyway). But I believe Intamin designed the ride, not SF.

kingbob- Yeah but they're saying that it's six flag's fault because they turned they train around when it wasn't designed to go backwarsd so it's six flag's fault for making that decision

I still think it was a good decision and it's fine going backwards
