SFGADV B:TR all rusty, why not other coasters...

We all know that Great Adventure's B:TR is rusty and when you ride it in the rain, you get rust all over you and it stains you and your clothes. I haven't noticed any other coasters that are this rusty, in particular, any other BTR's. Any explainations? Is it just because gadv's is old and never painted?
My first inclination would be its fairly close proximity to salt water, but then SFMM's is just as close. So I dunno.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

Ride up keep on B:TR is very low. It hasn't been painting in good knows how long. The reason you notice rust on you after the ride is cause you are below the rust. On all the other coaster you are on top of it. B:TR needs some much needed TLC. A new paint job to look like Batman KNight Flight at SFNe would be very nice.

Other coasters do get rusty... I've noticed quite a bit on SFGAm's B:TR, in fact, over the years. However, it always seems to get painted before it gets really bad.

If I remember correctly, they had the same problem with the raptor at cedar point. The problem was solved by simply painting the rails along with the spine. Aparently the rust was coused by the rails being rusty.
I got rust stained on SFGAm's B:TR a couple years ago.

Are you sure it's rust and not grease? Montu spat on me last year, but thankfully after about 10 washes the stain came out.
From the same great linguist who brought you "piss pour" design! ...

I don't know wether to sigh or ask what ride is coming west in the ride rotation program ...

What is the eleven letter word that all smart people spell incorrectly

Batman's rails were never painted from day one and they were badly rusted by the second season. The original color scheme was all black with "silver" rails which obviously didn't work out. Don't worry about it. They ARE painting the entire ride including the rails this off season. The exact color scheme is still up in the air but purple is going to be in there somewhere to match the purple on the trains.
The rust drips happen on the BTR at SFSL too, only really seems to be bad at the beginning of hte season, then it goes away.

Den, were you sniffing those mushrooms from the lawn again? ;)

Jersey is fairly close to salt water, but salt dosent get into the clouds i belive, so it wouldent change it any more then if it were located at GrAm, it is not close enough to the ocean where it is directy effected, also most weather comes from the west and heads east, not east to west.
I think it is because it rains a lot back there. None of Sfmm's coasters have rust.
Its because SF is too cheap to purchase the extra-cost rustproofing.

Ha!.

Taken a look at Flashback lately?

It rusts because they (SFGadv) elected not to repaint it, after 10 blasted years of operation. Am I bitter? ..... Nah...

Well, considering it took them about 20 years to repaint RT, that means that Batman will see paint in, umm... 2014?

Call me crazy, but I like the rust on it. I think it gives the ride the best "theme" in the "theme park."

Anywho, it hasn't been repainted since opening, and was due for the job last offseason, which just didn't happen. They did do some test painting in the offseason, which could be seen from the exit, and is purple :P. They also did sandblast the bare spots last winter, but that was it.

The Phoenix, its Schmecktacular!

SFMM is behind a couple of Hills from the ocean, so it is nowhere near as close to the water as the one in NJ. And yah, Flashback was looking rather less than it's usual blue when I saw it last. The one that really pisses me off is watching Ninja turn pinker and pinker each year... Hell, give me the equipment and the paint and I'll paint the sonofagun all by myself.
