While I'm very excited to see them building a B&M flyer, I was wondering why they are using parking lot space for this coaster. Seems to me there are A LOT of better and nicer-looking locations for a new coaster in that park. Heck, how long as GASM been there and it STILL looks like it was plopped in the middle of a parking lot with no landscaping and theming?
Anyone have insight as to why they chose this placement? I hope they spend some money on themeing and landscaping for the new one... *cough*

Well, the GAm site is getting trees and other landscaping, so hopefully GAdv's site won't be all parking lot.
Track has arrived, BTW, but I don't really have pictures to prove it. (I'm so untrustworthy and I know that the 13 yr olds are about to come out en masse and ask for proof).

I can also confirm the arrival of track.
The coaster won't be anything like Medusa West, though. Medusa West was literally stuck in the parking lot. The white stripes are all still there. Superman at SFGAdv will eventually have grass and trees, so we don't have a parking lot coaster.
The entrance to the ride leads through the USAF tent which used to house Alcatraz.

Do any of you know how to build a sundial out of a pen and a donut?
uh oh, sounds like someone has a case of the mondays.
It IS a flying coaster, so I would think that the ground would be landscaped, seeing that is about all you will see durring the course of the ride. If it isn't, then what would be the point of even building this kind of ride?
I would be extremely supprised if they didn't landscape it, even though we ARE talking about Six Flags.
TiggerMan, do you want me to mail you a cough drop? I love the title of this topic:)
Anyway, can't wait to check the ride out next year.

As an old fogey GAdv customer for too long, a lot of you might not realize it, but GASM was partly dropped in the middle of the parking lot. The Sarajevo Bobsled ride, then the Shockwave stand up coaster were in that spot using a much smaller footprint. When GASM was built, the turnaround took out some of the parking spots to accomodate the ride. Once the fence was put up and it was open for business, they didn't boher to landscape afterwards.Anyway, can't wait to check the ride out next year.
Shockwave was installed after the Great American Scream Machine, no?
It was located on the current site of their iWERKS simulator, Go-Kart track, and Mad House.

Chernabog, you're correct.
Shockwave came in in 93 or 94, I believe, and it was located where Houdini, Dino Island, and the Go-Karts are now.

I think they should let people park under it.
Ha! It'd make it very easy to find your car at the end of the day.

Just to make sure, was the color scheme the same as the one found on the SFGAm track?
