SFA Superman

On the http://www.sixflags.com/parks/america/Rides site, they have set a reopen date for Superman. I checked the SFNE and SFDL sites, and SFNE doesn't say anything about it, and SFDL just says it won't be operating this weekend.
Awesome! I don't know when they put that on their website but at least they put it up there. I don't know if that is something you would have seen last season or not. I hope as the date draws closer and if this date becomes a reality, they will move it to the home page.

I found some pics over at SFNE Central that shows that the restraints on SFDL's Superman have already been removed. I guess that the coasters are going to recieve the new curved t-bars. Hopefully they will be able to get the modifications done quckly and have the coasters open soon. *** Edited 5/17/2004 12:01:23 AM UTC by lilspike333***
That's great news...assuming they can make the modifications & conduct the mandatory testing required by the state to re-open the rides at all 3 parks.

I have a trip planned for june 5th but I guess I'll try & reschedule it for the following saturday instead as the site lists the reopening date as sunday june 6th...that & my nephew's birthday party has been resceduled from the 3rd to the 5th any way.

From the looks of things at SFDL it seems like they are well underway in making the changes...it looks as though the lap bars will definitely be changed along with the seats & belts because the entire lap bar system has been removed, not just the yellow T bar section.

Bravo to SFA for at least setting some dates and letting the public know in advance when they can expect it to be open.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

June 6th, 2004 in Six Flags terms means....

....ohhhhh...

...August 15th, 2006.

More "bravo" to SFA if they manage to get the coaster open by then.
Hopefully, Intamin will be on time with the parts. They haven't always been the best on deliveries.

I really hope they will be on time. It was sad going to the park last Friday and just being able to look but not ride.

The park was very busy by the way.

*IMPORTANT* ;)

I was at SFDL yesterday (this guy got the shots up before me) and I can tell you that the yellow part of the lapbars are GONE. But the actual bar is still intact which means that curved lapbars aren't going to happen.

Unless they will be covered with padding that has a curved shape?

Looking at all of those pics I don't see anything that indicates that the straight bar that holds the yellow section of the restraints is still in place. As far as I can see the restraints have been completely removed, which I'm assuming is because they will be installing the curved bars.

good...good..very good

As for Intamin being slow on delivery, I have to imagine they're busting their butts to get these parts to Six Flags. I'd imagine they don't have too many fans at Six Flags Inc right now and they need to keep everyone as happy as possible if they ever hope to sell another ride,

I believe that Cedar Point would be smart to order about, oh . . let's say 108 curved T-bars. ;)

I really believe I do remember seein the safety bars still intact, but you can't see them from that angle. You can only see them from predator's exit ramp.
One would hope that Intamin is working hard to get parts to SF as fast as possible. However, they are to a great extent slaves to their suppliers. I'd be willing to bet the farm that Intamin doesn't sew their own seat belts.

I have an idea to make the seatbelts shorter: Why not just have them go around the outside of the side of the seat? You know the metal bar that goes around? That would shorten the length by 6 inches of so..
Yes it would accomplish that but in the process the belt wouldn't fit the rider properly leaving a gap that they can slide up & out of verticaly.

After I looked a little closer I can see that the bar is still attached. I do hope that they replace the straight bar wiht a curved one though.

on another site someone stated that cp is already re routing the belts over the side bars, and people with a 36" to 38" waiste arent fitting on MF. They say 1 in every 10 people are not fitting in the seats.
