Next spring I'm going to be visiting colleges and I convinced my parents to take a side trip to a park on one of our trips. I basically got my choices narrowed down to two places SFA when I visit Hopkins, or SFNE on the way back from MIT. For me this is a tough decision SFA has a good selection with S:ROS, Batwing, and Roar while SFNE has the #2 coaster S:ROS. I've never been to either of these parks, so I would like to know more about them. Where should I go since I can't go to both?

SFA was sweet. ROAR is my #1 woody. And SROA kicks!!! Never been to SFNE, but thier Superman coaster looks so awesome. So i dunno.

SFA has a better selection.
I have never been to SFA but I have been to SFNE. As people have said before, SFA has a much better selection. SFNE does have the #2 steel coaster but the only thing really comparable to it in the park (in terms of greatness) is the Riverside Cyclone. I would go to SFA but that is probably just because I have never been there. SFNE is pretty pricey(being in New England) and it has a few dead ends and stuff. But next year will bring a new B&M to SFNE so I would wait to see what that ride is. I also heard SFA is supposed to get something new from B&M so I would just wait and see what they put out. But right now, my answer is SFA.

Tough one, however you should go with SFNE. If you were going tomorrow I would say SFA cause they have a better selection of coasters right now but with that new bm SFNE gonna be an awsome park.

Having been to both parks before, I think the SFA would be your best choice. They have a better variety of coasters the SFNE. However, I think that their Superman Ride of Steel is slightly better than the one at SFA. It's a little bigger, and it has 2 tunnels (it's awesome at night). The one at SFA seems to sustain a faster speed through out the ride but doesn't have any tunnels!!! They are definitely the best hypercoasters on the planet!! I would say try SFA first!!!!
Yeah but next year SFNE is getting a nice B&M which SFA does not have.

sigh, SFNE goes "tiny" for 2001
SFA is my homepark and they have a great variety of coasters. However, SFNE has a really awesome S:RoS. Tough call...

Riiiiiggggghhhhtttt...
Alright, This really is a tough choose since I have been to both parks and SFNE is kind of my homepark. First off you have to compare the Intamin hypers and SFNE is definitely better. It provides some much airtime but we all know that!!! Both have Vekoma's SLC, i hate those any ways. In the woodie department, Roar and Wild one are both excellent coasters at SFA. Wild One is really under-rated, gives a really great classic ride with some killer aitrime and a excellemt helix. SFNE also has two woodies. Cyclone gives an excellent old-school twister ride that can really bruise you up but lately it has been pretty smooth. Thunderbolt is a classic out and back with some decent airtime. In the Woodie department, the advantage goes to SFA. While SFA does have Joker's Jinx and Two face, i really don't think those rides are very special unless Joker gets lap bars. Then there is the flying Dutchman Batwing, which unfortunately i did not get to ride because I missed the opening day by two days. the new beemer that SFNE is getting should be pretty unique and probably floorless. I just cannot get enough of the B&M floorless coaster. they are all excellent rides!! The theming in each of the parks is pretty good. SFA lacks the sufficent amount of theming in the newer areas, while SFNE is nicely themed throughout the park. I think the theming has to go to SFNE. Both parks are great and still developing but for next year i would head to SFNE and ride the new beemer. I know I'll be there riding it on its opening day.
I'll be there too sethman.

By the way I hope you know what you are getting into when you apply to MIT. I am a junior in high school in the boston area and I have a few friends who go there and complain about how difficult it is and how much pressure is put upon the students. MIT has the highest amount of student suicides of almost any college. But don't let me affect your opinion of the school, I might apply there, too.
hey Bluesoccer, do you live close to the SFNE? And did you go to Supermania?
Sethman put it nicely, go to SFNE. SROS is the best Hypercoaster anywhere, Cyclone is the most Intense wood coaster around, and the Standup or Floorless coaster should be sweet.
I would say SFA because they have a better selection. But as far as Joker goes it doesn't hurt at all but it could use lap bars really bad.

SROS at SFNE is definitely the best hyper. Better than MF, Nitro, Raging Bull or Steel Force. SROS is the difinitive hyper experience, SROS encompasses everything that makes hypers great: Killer airtime, excellent helices, Incredible first drop and an spectacular over-banked turn akin to those on MF. SROS at SFNE is simply the best!!!
Yeah i live like an hour and a half away from sfne and i went to supermania too.
Well, if I had a choice to go to SFA or SFNE right now... I would definitly go to SFNE... I was already there once and I am ready to visit again! (Being 7 hours away and not being able to drive...) Superman is a ride you can't pass up. Although SFA's and SFDL's Superman rides are great, nothing can compare to SFNE's version. I didn't really like cyclone too much, thunderbolt was OK, but SRoS makes up for it. Its a nice little park with some nice flat rides, although I have never been to SFA. SFA does have X-flight and S:ros of a different kind, I have been on X-flight and say it is an amazing ride too, but not enough to beat out SRoS in my opinion. Now that I think about it.. I guess it is a tough descision....

Jeff, you are the best! Thank you for your hard work, and your awesome site!
I would say SFA. Even if Superman @ SFNE is as good as it sounds, I think that Batwing will more than make up for that for you. Incredible experience, and SFA's Superman is a fantastic coaster as well. SFNE is recieving a small B&M next year, SFA may possibly be reciving a much larger B&M.
Plus, I do beleive that Joker's Jinx will be getting it's much-anticipated lap bars next year. For woodies, I hear that SFNE's are fairly rough. SFA's are both smooth.
SFNE has a Boomerang, SFA has an Invertigo.
The SLCs can be ignored, since both parks have one.
Just my input!

S:ROS @ SFNE is the best steal coaster on the planet, and I've ridden well over 200 coasters. The Cylone is also a superb woodie, and a ride in the back seat on it is the closest thing I could imagine to the Crystal Beach Cyclone.
SFA so called "better selection" includes all clones or near clones except Wild One. Although they are still pretty good rides (except Mind Eraser).
I did both parks in June this year and had a great time at SFNE, and not so great time at SFA. On my visit, SFA was VERY dirty and the staff were rude and inefficient, and the theming and landscaping in some of the new areas was not bad - it was NON EXISTANT!

I may not be qualified to comment on this as I have only been to SFA and not SFNE. So, taking that into consideration, I would say go to SFNE!
Personally, I found Wild One to be the only coaster at SFA that could entice me to do a re-ride (not sure about S:ROS since it was closed when we were there). BatWing, for all its hype and expectations, was a let down.
