Yes the rapids ride is drained once daily. I am not sure of the reasoning, but I can tell you for sure that it happens. In fact, I was standing in front of the ride this past Saturday as they drained it. It was down for about 7 or 8 minutes and they filled it right back up...it was actually very neat to see them fill it back up...it was like a dam breaking (only on a much smaller scale). It actually says right on the sign for the ride that at least once during the day, the ride will temporarily close. Like I said, I don't know the reason (probably something to do with maintenance as there was a maintenance guy on hand while it happened), but I can tell you that it happened just before 6 pm.
As far as Typhoon is concerned, I am not sure that staffing is that much of an issue because I have been there at times and seen 6 or 7 staff standing around while the ride was not operating.
As for old Eleanor, I will reiterate what I said before, I will believe it when I see it. Until then, I consider it a hoax dressed up as a ghost story.
Happy Coastering!

Umm........if you're going to call someone a complete idiot, at least use proper spelling in your own post.

I have heard massive rumblings about this. Where the park is haunted and such by a little girl that slid down the banaster of her house (the one seen on the right side of Wild One's lift hill) and died. Does anyone have any more information about this tale?

When she was 8 years old Eleanor went out to play on the farm that herparents had in Prince Georges County MD. Somehow she travelled too far from the house, lost her direction on a hot mid-june day and eventually died of
exposure on June 15th. She is buried on the property.
beginning in 1986 as I got to know employees of Wild World, I began hearing stories of Eleanor. Eleanor is said to be a playful ghost, and not a harmful one. but on the anniversary of her death THINGS HAPPEN. two years ago on June 15th, as the employees were preparing the park for opening, suddenly all the power in the park went out momentarily. This was the day that they were installing the 2nd chain on Superman Ride of Steel (which broke two days later) AND that same day a raft flipped on the renegade rapids ride, with no serious injuries involved. Other stories in the past include, a Mishap on the Mind Eraser roller coaster on June 15th. and a sighting of Eleanor standing in the middle of a turntable of the Typhoon Seacoaster.
Many employees that I've asked have told me that they have heard giggling and other vocalizations while alone in the park.
Hall Mansion, Eleanors house, still stands on the Six Flags America property.
I also heard that on July 13th (her birthday) Employees are fearful to come to work. Also rumors of rides turning on by themselves. Strange

Last time I was on the Typhoon coaster we got stuck twice at the top of both lifthills on the turntables - the staff attendants had to literally PUSH us down the hill! It was rather eery - this ride is not very well put together, but it's a classic and that's probably why they don't tear it down. I believe it was one of the first rides that came after Wild One.
Somebody mentioned that the dark ride elements have been enhanced this year - what dark ride elements? There are props in the tunnels, but they are not lit up and not very easy to see. This ride definitely needs a good facelift, like strobe lights and loud haunting laughs. I also think that they should enclose the shack at the top of the first lift completely to make it very dark, giving riders a feeling of discombobulation.

The rides don't turn on by themselves, Eleanor turns them on ;)

Live on the edge and remember the Twist of Fate.
I had the same experience as you Sylvester. While riding typhoon seacoaster this past saturday our boat was on the final turntable(the one where you drop out of the skull's mouth) and the ride op had to push our boat by hand because for some reason the catapult wasn't working.
As for typhoon sea coaster being one of the first additions following Wild One,your'e about 11 yaers late.Wild one was added in 86 and typhoon sea coaster was added in 97.
