SFA Haunted Typhoon Coaster

I have heard massive rumblings about this. Where the park is haunted and such by a little girl that slid down the banaster of her house (the one seen on the right side of Wild One's lift hill) and died. They then buried her outside the house where the Typhoon Sea Coaster is located. Her grave is part of the foundation and her ghost has been seen walking through the ride. Rumor is that when they were building the coaster they disturbed the grave. Some say this is why the ride is never open.

Does anyone have any more information about this tale?

Well it looks like SFA has got it's first urban legend.
Since SFA is outside the beltway I guess we should call it a "suburban legend".
Maybe this explains why the ride is always "broke down". Personally, I don't believe in "ghost stories", so I won't believe it until I see it.
Your a complete idiot.

Just letting you know about this. I heard it and was wondering about the damn house on the hill that's about 100 ft from Wild One's lift hill. And why is the ride never open, when was the last time it ran. And if the ride is never open why don't they tear the thing down.

It opens at noon and closes at dusk.

When you go to bgw don't go in festhaus,IT"S SCARY AS HELL!

Umm. The Typhoon Sea Coaster? It was open when I was there last year... I don't know about this year though.

Planned parks: Astroland, Knoebel's, Hersheypark, SFNE, SFGadv,SFGam,CP,PKI,PKD,PCW,HW,Indiana Beach,SFWOA,SFKK,SFDL,SFSTL,Lakemont,DelGrosso's... Need I say more?

I was there this past Saturday and it was open, but it wasn't open all day...it didn't open until around 3 and closed at around 7. It is supposed to be open at noon, so it opened late. Also, while I was in line for it, it "broke down" and was down for about 20 minutes.

This is a typical day for this ride. It opens late and constantly breaks down. It does open...it just doesn't operate on a "regular" schedule.

In it's defense, it is a great ride when it is operating...Definitely my fave non-coaster ride at SFA. I just love when a newbie is in the boat when it goes into the turnaround and they say "Oh @#!*, this thing goes BACKWARDS!!!"

It's never been very reliable, but has been operating better this year than in the past.
Why on earth does typhoon seacoaster have such wacky hours? Not open before noon, closing at dusk? I don't get it; can someone please explain to me why they have this operating schedule procedure in place? I've been to SFA in the past and it's pretty frustrating.
Well, codergirl, most water rides do close at dusk for a few reasons. Like, take a rapids ride. They have to close at dusk because they have to see the boats. Also, at SFGAm a couple rides open late and close early due to capictay. (Bad spelling) If, the sea coaster is popular, it will close early, and somtimes, they just close it.
Not only that but you probably wouldn't want to be on a water ride after dark because that water gets mighty cold mighty fast. It's probably one reason why typhoon seacoaster and if I'm not mistaken renegade rapids & shipwreck falls open at or around noon to give the water a chance to warm up a bit.
Ahh, okie. Thanks for the insight!! I was thinking back to when i went to PKD years ago, and white water canyon was operating after dark as well as their log flume. I don't know if they've changed their policies though.

Here's what I know about Seacoaster. First of all, Adventure World/Six Flags has spent of lot of money to make the ride work. It's an Intamin prototype, but, Intamin couldn't make it work right. This is straight from Scott, the operations manager (as featured in the Batwing segment on Discovery Channel). Second of all, most of the time you see it closed, it's a staffing issue. You need at least 6 people to operate the different sections of the ride. This year, it's actually able to run 8 boats simultaneously, an amazing feat compared to years past. The darkride elements have been much enhanced also.-------------
B&M vs. Intamin? CCI vs. GCI? Who cares! They're all fun!

About the water rides issue, I think SFA drains the rapids ride. At least they did when I was there...

I noticed that as well, when riding mind eraser on the first drop you come within feet of the rapids ride and it did appear to be drained.

When she was 8 years old Eleanor went out to play on the farm that herparents had in Prince Georges County MD. Somehow she travelled too far from the house, lost her direction on a hot mid-june day and eventually died of
exposure on June 15th. She is buried on the property.

beginning in 1986 as I got to know employees of Wild World, I began hearing stories of Eleanor. Eleanor is said to be a playful ghost, and not a harmful one. but on the anniversary of her death THINGS HAPPEN. two years ago on June 15th, as the employees were preparing the park for opening, suddenly all the power in the park went out momentarily. This was the day that they were installing the 2nd chain on Superman Ride of Steel (which broke two days later) AND that same day a raft flipped on the renegade rapids ride, with no serious injuries involved. Other stories in the past include, a Mishap on the Mind Eraser roller coaster on June 15th. and a sighting of Eleanor standing in the middle of a turntable of the Typhoon Seacoaster.

Many employees that I've asked have told me that they have heard giggling and other vocalizations while alone in the park.

Hall Mansion, Eleanors house, still stands on the Six Flags America property.

....my question is this: Why do they always leave a seat for her on EVERY single boat on the ride.....;)

bill, saying the capacity of water rides is bad enough before leaving SO many open seats.....
