SFA 2005 webpage hint...

I seriously doubt we'll be seeing any major additions to the theme park side what with all the capital going towards HH this year....now in 06,or more likely 07 we'll see something added to the theme park

Now it would be nice if we at least got a small flat or something next year but it just won't happen, instead I'm still hoping for them to clear out the front end of PI/HH near the main gate so they can do an expansion similar to what SFGRAM did this year with maybe 3 small to modertae flats & a nice family coaster.

The remaining rides on the list indoor dark ride,120ft tall ferris wheel & runaway car ride(that is if the runaway car ride isn't added to HH) would all fit in nicely in that area of the park don't you think? imagine walking up to the front gate & instead of seeing those old waterslides just to the left you're greeted by the sight of a 120ft giant wheel instead.

Anyone care to speculate on what we might be seeing new in HH next year?now I'm not trying to start any rumors as that's not permitted here on the buzz but I'd still like to get some input here, already we know that at least the arcade will get a makeover & the climbing wall is being added(why there I havn't a clue)but as for slides or other water related attractions we're still in the dark as to what they may be.

CrazyB: Why are you complaining about SFNO so much? there's still time for you guys to get something so just hang in there...at least you've got a good B&M invert while all we've got is a rather crappy SLC,if I could I'd be willing to make a trade with ya & I'd also be willing to throw in our roto-shake in exchange for your top spin or windshear rides while I'm at it.

Coasterguts:I always thought they got rid of the animal park once the waterpark was up & running? from what I can tell the animal park was failing hece the reason for building the waterpark in the first place & when that wasn't enough they decided to add a few traditional rides as well & the rest as they say is history.

My Prediction:
We'll almost deffinitly see a "Hurricane Mountain" like tube-slide complex like the former SFWOA got in 2003. After that, the next most probable slide complex would be some sort of body slide tower with a large "freefall slide" in the middle...as we only have one body slide tower right now and it's pretty limited. That would round out the current selection that the park has. From there, I'd love to see the waterpark diversify itself from the compitition by building attractions not already seen in the area compitition. They could get one of those tobogan raceing slides like SFGAm is getting, they could get a Tornado like so many SF parks got last year, they could get a family tube slide, or Proslide Rocket (Masterblaster), one of those toilet bowl slides...there are a lot of possibilities.

I'd still prefer to see a seperate admission waterpark, I really think it would help out the park in the long run, but if they are going to just renovate Paradise Island to a Hurricane Harbor, I'd be satisfied as long as they do as good a job as they did at SFNE. I was really impressed with that transformation and I think if Paradise Island got a similar treatment it would give the waterpark some much needed atmosphere.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Batwing, at this point a swap might be a good thing . But take into consideration of over 1 1/2 hr min. wait to ride B;Tr with only one train running with the other sitting idle and maybe 200 people in line because of our Ride Supervisor Nazi during the summer. Stand in line to be chastised by our ride op crew..with their don't want to work attitude..Its a package deal!!! ride with ride ops. our top spin ride stays down more than up also... Deal???? SFNO only recieved a couple rides due to the buyout the rest were renamed same same as Jazzland...Forgot to add in Kids looney tune area which was lacking ride ops so many of those rides were closed..If we could swap park ops we might be satisfied but I believe you would get the short end of the stick. As of now its seems to late to announce anything regarding a Waterpark..We might get someone elses ride that they don't want as a concelation ..So far this year this park has generated speculation to boost up attendance but nothing near the truth in any info given out,, The word on the street down here is don't believe anything you hear and only half of what you see!!!

Batwing Fan SFA, yes the drive through safari park was replaced by Wild World water park, but between the transformation into Adventure World, there were some animal attractions.

According to a October 1st, 1983 article in the Washington Post. According to a then park lawyer (V. Paul Zanecki), they are expesnive to maintain and "in terms of marketability, they were not nearly a draw". This would mean the water park was open two seasons before they sold the animals. *** Edited 10/19/2004 7:47:17 PM UTC by coasterguts***
Well, I think we are looking at either a Proslide Tornado or Proslide Masterblaster slide. I wouldn't be disappointed with either one, however I think the masterbaster type slide would be alot more popular with the GP.

CrazyB: your description of B:TR's typical operation sounds a helluva lot like what we put up with on Batwing on a regular basis.

On average only one train (out of 3) is ever running although there are RARE exceptions to the rule from time to time & our management is not really all that better in many respects to what you mentioned of management at SFNO so please lighten up a bit ok?

As long as they can pull off an SFNE type expansion for HH I'd be happy...they really did a good job on that expansion last season from what I hear.

The fall 2004 newsletter arrived in my inbox this morning. It says the same thing as the scroller on the screen. This is really intriquing me. Comon' SFA make an announcement quit screwing with my head!

Also noticed the park is open to season passholders on Oct.31st only (which I knew). What I didn't know is I could use the 9.99 coupon in my coupon book and bring up to Six Friends with me. Coincidence? Six Friends, Six Flags, Mr. Six?

BTW, slightly off topic, is the Phantom playing the Organ this year and making whimsical remarks about people?

A day at the park is what you make it!

If you're talking about the childrens petting zoo you're correct, however that was removed and "a day at the circus" was installed I believe it was installed for adventure worlds opening...... I could be wrong about the date.

THIS JUST IN..........

Don't expect an early announcement for the waterpark. We'll propbably see Construction before We see an announcement.

I'd predict the usual Mid February announcements.

SAM

Wow Sam, all the way till February?!? Argh! There going to keep us guessing for 4 more months! That's going to drive me crazy! The worst part is , construction probably won't start at all until the park is closed for the year, and if that's the case, you all know how impossibly difficult it is to see any construction from rt 214 when you can't get into the park. They could really get a significantly good amount of the renovation/expansion done without us being any the wiser. Arghh!!!

And coasterguts, while the organ is on the pirate ship there in Skull Island, there is no phantom saddly, at least not on any of the three nights I've been there.

As for the newsletter, that "Stay tuned for details..." line below the hints is going to drive me crazy!

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Anyone know the phone number to Lisa Baden at Metro Traffic? Perhaps she could provide us with updates once or twice a week during traffic reports.

A day at the park is what you make it!

I recieved the same email the other day just giving the usual FF info but nowhere did it say anything about hints regarding the waterpark just yet...still we've got proof enough in the park already what with the sign on the gate to PI.

Sam: how'd you come across info regarding the announcement time frame? with the announcement set for the usual time of mid february it looks like we'll probably be getting just one single attraction(my bets are on a proslide tornado)rather than multiple slides but of course we won't know for sure until then.

Then again the park most definitely has to obtain the required construction permits to build any attractions so I guess we'll have to keep checking the planning board's website every week between now & then to find out just what the park has got planned for 05....BTW I've seen the organ as well in the same old spot on the ship in skull island as well but not in the evening as I'm always down by supes at that time.

Now how did you come up with this idea based on the information Sam provided?

A day at the park is what you make it!

BatwingFan, SFGAm's Mardi Gras section wasn't announced until January 19, 2004; SFOG's five new family rides wern't announced until February 2, 2004; Nitro at SFGAdv wasn't announced until February 1, 2001; the Hurricane Harbor expansion of SFNE wasn't announced until March 14, 2003...

Date has NOTHING to do with the size of the expansion.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

Well at least it'll make for some rather interesting speculation for most of the off season.

Now of course when it comes to construction & site preps the park can be quite secretive about it to a small extent so I'll be on the lookout for anything of interest going on during my upcoming trip this saturday.

The off season looks to be quite an interesting one this year what with TR:TR at PKD(why havn't there been any updates on it lately?)& SFA's waterpark expansion plans...can't wait to hear some more info on both of them.

I was at PKD last Saturday, trust me, there hasn't been much to report.

A day at the park is what you make it!

Can't forget BGW, still completly clueless as to what they're getting...

Anyways, back on topic...

I'm not revealing my information sources, they didn't formally indicate any specific date, but led me to believe we'll hear about it later instead of sooner.

BATWING FAN SFA: I finally figured you out! You're gonna guess every darn variation on the possibilities for the waterpark so that when the announcement comes, "you'll be right"!!!! BTW, Are you pulling all these guesses out of thin air? Rather than specualte on something you know VERY little about, how about just relaxing and waiting for the announcement.

AGAIN: I doubt you'll see much on the PG park and Planning commission's website, these are not considered MAJOR rides, and thus probably will only require building permits, instead of a formal hearing.
