SF never ceases to amaze me. Arg!

If that's the case, why couldn't they have left our mine train alone instead of ripping it out for the blasted SLC?!

I just want to throw in a quick plug....

HersheyPark keeps two trains on the track all season long. The ride ops are, generally, good enough to prevent stacking. Some are fast enough they could put a second train on Sidewinder. On days when attendance is severely low, they may take trains off. The key is that they take trains off when attendance is low rather than adding a train when attendance is high.

Seems so simple, why can't other parks understand this great concept.

SFAW being my homepark, I'll be the first one to step up and say that the park has no room for anymore coasters, but the most love the big boys could show AW would be hiring someone to either renovate or design/place new trains on BtE. I don't think it has anything to do with the track, and I do like the layout, but the trains have to go.

Great Bear. Cornball Express. Nearly every ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. They can find a way if they really want to.

that is an absolute untruth. I was there on a a few occasions and the racer had only one side running for at least the first 1/2 hour to hour of opening and one train on that side. eventually they had all 4 trains going, but it took a while.

And, the Wildcat this year has been very lucky to avoid any severe accidents. One of the lead ride ops seems to be more concerned with her fingernails, than with the safe operation of the coaster underneath her spritely backside. I actually saw her on one visit get up and walk away from the lead operators podium, while both trains were IN MOTION and the back op was AWAY FROM HIS E-STOP............TO WRITE DOWN THE NUMBERS from THE EXIT TURNSTYLES!!!!!!! I was in total shock, it was as if everyone walked away from an operating ride!

Well, it probably isn't Hershey's policy to walk away from the control panel, but theoretically it's perfectly safe to do. The ride takes care of all the braking and safety features itself.

'Moosh....Apparently, I failed to get the joke across....your sig says "Xmas cards" and I was joking around with how they would be of X...Christmas cards are generally about Christ, so I *assumed* Xmas cards would feature X.

And coasterdude318, while it is theoretically safe to walk away from the board while the ride is running, I'd prefer that the lead op stay put...just in case...;)

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle....unless you've got a spare planet!

Hersheypark and 2 train operation: I was there this past Friday for Hersheypark in the Dark. The crowds were very light. All coasters (with the exception of Comet... mainly because of collecting of tickets I think) were walk ons... and each coaster (with the exception of very short Trail Blazer) were running two trains. There were times when trains on the looper were sent out with only 4 people on board. So, even during light crowds they do not take off trains.

About the only time I can remember seeing single train operation on all open coasters was for Springtime in the Park back in April. Again, fairly light crowds. Not sure if it was a staffing issue or if it was a weather issue. It was a very drizzly day with passing showers. Someone mentioned that when it is weather like this and light crowds they run only one train on the coasters because of the wet tracks. Chances are the breaks would work with wet tracks... but just to avoid any chance of an accident because of wet breaks, they only run one train. Not sure if this is true, but it makes sense to me.

Kind of hard to take a post as objective if a park or coaster name is part of the "user name"

'Gator - I got the joke...notice I changed my sig? What did you think of the pic I sent?

Moosh - hoping to make that announcement at the end of this week.

Tired or searching for amusement park Christmas cards? Check my sig for a big announcement coming VERY soon!
