The 2 laps I got on Nitro, I just kicked my legs out and leaned forward a little. Pretty much got air on all the hills. Its a great ride.

Dayuum, Your HOT!
Nope I wasn't stapled in and I did take two rides on the right side as well as one on the left. It just didn't do it for me. On MF and SROS even if you are "stapled" in you get big air time. Especially on SROS where as I said before it feels like the entire train is going to lift off of the track not just you out of your seat. I got no sensation like that on Nitro and I wasn't necessarily expecting it to be like that. I just expected something more with what a lot of people were saying about it. Perhaps I am lacking some genetic predisposition to subtle air? I certainly will be returning to SFGA this summer and I will be sure to give big N another shot.

Nah,your not lacking, lol. It is your personal preference and that's cool.If the big N does nothing for you it does not mean your crazy or,that Nitro is a lame coaster. We all seem to forget sometimes that everyone has a differant perception of what makes a great coaster to us personally.

You're killing me with all this talk of SROS! I can't wait to ride it later this week.

"im not sure of the earliest cyclone but the SFNE cyclone was built in 1983 so it may be the youngest."
Actually, if you're counting 'clones', those modeled after CIC, or mirrored clones, Georgis Cyclone in 1990, Psyclone at SFMM in 1991 and Viper at SFGAm in 1994 are much newer than the NE Cyclone.

by the way, Cyclone at SFNE was once voted Americas scariest coaster. They had a sign at the entrance telling the rider, Why did Six Flags take it down? What gave them the right??

Probobly since it no longer holds that record. I'm not too surprised if it was for that reason.

After they reprofiled the SFNE Cyclone and put better trains on it that title faded. I think the scary part was due to the fact that the Morgan trains hurt like mad and the track was a mess. It was more for the upkeep of the ride not the quality. Thankfully they have fixed it and it is pretty darn good again. It stunk in the 90's.
when i sat in the back seat on the morgans I was BADLY bruised. It was my first ride on it. did not ride it againg until the got the ptc trains. now its my fav.

[actually was the CI Cyclone the first Cyclone?
I'm pretty sure that Traver's four short-lived "Cyclone Safety Coasters" debuted in 1927 as well. I have no idea if any of the Traver models opened to the public before the one at CI.
There was also a ride in Canada that was built in 1924 that carried the name Cyclone, but I belive it had a different name when it opened.

This is from ultimaterollercoaster.com:
"The Traver Engineering Company erected both the Cyclone at Revere Beach, Massachusetts and the Thunderbolt at Savin Rock in Connecticut in 1925. These were Prior and Church designs and allowed Traver's company to cut their teeth building coasters. Both of these coasters were similar designs and typical Prior and Church rides.
One year later Traver premiered two coasters at the Philadelphia Sesquicentennial Exposition. The Cyclone was a wooden coaster with steel supports that had some of the same elements found on his later coasters, such as the spiraling drop, a sharp, downward helix, track made from eight layers of wood and articulated cars. This coaster is also the first coaster to use the name Cyclone, which would later become synonymous with powerful wooden roller coasters."
I don't know how reliable this information is. If it is correct, then the CI Cyclone is not the first to use the name. It's really hard to tell, as there is always conflicting information (dates, speed, height, etc.) about these old coasters.
Yeah I did a little research and there are mentions of coasters called the Cyclone as far back as the turn of the century. It seems to be synonymous with a twister type woodie. Doubt it would be easy to track down the "original" Cyclone.
Staple? You can laugh at me if you want but what does staple mean?

X...X-FLIGHT....X....X-FLIGHT.....X.....X-FLIGHT... IM CONFUSED!
nitro tame! hahaha what were u smoking that day.
the ride has so much air time over the first 3-4 hills its so amazing. the drop may not be nothing but u have to sit in the last row at the edge it goes so much faster
AB - Stapling is when they push the lapbar down so hard on you that you feel like you are stapled to the seat.

When the ride op gives you an additional, uncomfortable click(s) on your lap bar. Effectively "stapling" you in the seat.
Yeeesh I am sorry, I sat in the back, I wasn't stapled and there was little to no air. I really wanted there to be some I swear but it wasn't there. I promise I will give it another shot this summer but that day I had nothing. This Sunday I am hitting SFNE again to experience true air on SROS...uh oh I am starting to sound like snfe guy...speaking of which snfe guy why don't you fill out a track record? Its obvious that you have ridden SROS but what else have ridden?
I never got around to it but i will. Ive been to SFGADV. SFNE, Canobie Lake, Lake Compounce, Almost everything in florida and next summer PKI or CP.
Hey sfne guy, you have posted 11x in one thread! Hold off a sec! I am very eager to ride CI Cyclone when I go to New York! Thanks for the adivce about the day pass.
