SF buys WoF's OE, 2 parks get new rides!

I doubt it is... seriously doubt it. But I can't say that the thought didn't cross my mind at least once!

"I go out at 3 o' clock for a quart of milk and come home to my son treating his body like an amusement park!" - Estelle Costanza

At the Spring Con this year that was held at SFAW, Chuck Hendrix (GM) spoke to us as a group. He stated:

"We know what we are, and we know what we are not. But like the Army, we are going to be all that we can be."

I think that sums up SFAW pretty well. Personally, I love the park. I think the attendee's of Spring Con were pleasently suprised with the park. SFAW is not a bad park. Yes, a lot of paint could be used and I know painting the rides is something the park wants to do.

On another note of new and used rides. UltraTwister and Batman: The Escape have remained some of the most popular rides at the park. Serial Thriller still impresses most Houstonions it seems and of the 2 new rides this year, it seems that Diablo Falls is more popular than SWAT.

I think that Swat and Diablo Falls were pretty nice additions... not anything to ignore. Most SF parks could have used rides like those to round out their collections.

Dateline Logan UT: Today, Stan Checketts, president and founder of S&S Power announced plans to purchase all remaining Arrow coasters and refit them with new air powered launches. Calling the new design the AIRrow coaster, Checketts has reportedly already signed deals with both Six Flags and Cedar Fair. The prototype for this new coaster has actually already been erected on the S&S property. “We were fortunate to be apporched by Busch Gardens when they removed Drachen Fire. What we did was rebuild the entire thing to its original specs and replaced the lift hill with an inclined launch. It’s great! We can get that sucker up to 130 on a good day. Take THAT Intamin!” When Checketts was pressed for details on how he would adapt the Arrow Trim Brakes to compensate for the added speed, he simply laughed. “Trim Brakes? Never heard of ‘em.” This innovative new design will allow S&S to make back some of the money they invested in their 2002 purchase of Arrow Dynamics – the company who designed the first ever corkscrew coaster in 1975. “Look, the corkscrew was the most exciting coaster of its day, Thrust Air was the most exciting coaster of its day – you add these together? C’mon, it’s a no brainier!” Checketts said. -Escher
