Soggy's just your standard traditionalist guys, don't give him such a hard time ;)

You build it, I'll ride it
Well I say we have a third party measure it once it's completed. You know parks never get the height thing correct until someone comes along and challeges their record. Only then do we get the *real* height ;P

People, its not the size of the coaster, its the trains that matter.
what? the trains? it takes the whole coaster the land and the park to make a ride great

Does that say it will have an elevator lift?

Please enlighten me. I am not aware of a really big, AND well received woodie, here or abroad.
Besides, like I also have already stated, I doubt if many of us (in the USA) will be heading to Germany next season. Believe me, I am willing to try new things. But with the track record of SOB, MS, Hercules and Rattler, I will stick with CCI's Ghostrider, Shivering Timbers and Raven. I must admit though, The Beast had problems when it opened, now it too is one of my favorites. Then again its drops are less than 150'. Hmmmmmm.....

Gotta ride 'em all!
You can't expect a 218 ft. WOODEN coaster to be greatly smooth. Really it is only the trains navigating the curves that is TERRIBLY rough. The bottom of the first drop isn't too bad. Personally, I loved it. Then again I have a very high intensity tolerance, the more neck snapping, the better.

Coasters- a little slice of heaven
I found Mean Streak to be one of the most disapointing wooden coasters I've ever ridden. It may have a running time of 2:54 but it's pacing is boring compared to The Villain or any GCI coaster I've ridden, which are much smaller. I also agree that the ride is rough. Hercules at Dorney Park is also lame. Maybe Intamin can get it right.
The picture on the park's website shows the Jupiter woodie in Japan! I don't think the first drop on the new coaster is only 70 feet! I think the picture is used to give an idea what the coaster looks like! The new woodie probably have a swoop curve similar to Jupiter and than a large 175 foot 61(I thought I read 65 degrees on Wild Rumors)degree drop!

PINK FLOYD FANATIC
The truth about Mean Streak is that before they slowed it to a crawl, it was almost un-rideable. Some people would have considered it "intense" but the vast majority found it way too rough. It seems to me that SOB is suffering the same fate. It reminds me of MS in way too many ways. And remember that Mean Streak ran its best the first year; it was all down hill (no pun intended) from there.
I would also like to know where this other "big wood" is.
Not really nessessary Soggy. It's not like I can change your mind anyway, it would be a waste of time. I'm just offering the other side. intamin has done larger than usual wooden coasters in other countries, and I hear they ride fine.

Thrillride.com said that the German park claims that their new coaster is going to be the tallest coaster in the world. They also said that SOB is not the tallest because it has a steel loop. Hello?! SOB IS a wooden coaster because the train runs on a wooden track. How else would they have done a wooden loop? If they used all wood then the whole loop would collasp(sp?) because of the stong g-forces, right? Also a wall of wood that is 218ft. high is higher than 197ft., DUH!

Well for everyone out there. SOB is not that rough, dad is a bit rougher. And sonny is an awesome coaster and it is running just fine now so go and ride it before you give it such a hard time. Because it is not near as rough now as it was when it first opened.
Thans Paintmaker! I don't have to prove that you can build a great tall wooden coaster, PKI has already done that, twice.

What's that really big wooden coaster in Japan? I thought it was built by Intamin, and I've heard nothing but good things about that... Someone who knows more, maybe you can prove me wrong, I really don't know that much, but it's huge, and it's white.
White Cyclone is what it's called. i don't know the exact stats, but I thinks it's larger than normal. I'll say it again, don't believe the hype regarding large woodies and problems. Psyclone at SFMM had as many problems as coasters twice it's size.

Hey I Just want to say that sonny rulz! and nuthin is gonna change my mind about that. Also 197ft is not a hyper coaster.

Also when the beast was built the first year it had a 60% down time and sonny has already beat that. Also Beast only had one train that whole year.
