Search Forums using topic/post authors?

Hey Jeff. I was trying to look up TR's by certain authors and topics that have posts by certain authors. and I'm not having any luck using the search feature to do so. Am I missing something or is it not implemeted?

Andy, I'm right there with you. I just don't understand the search feature. I'd like to see the searches be "fuzzy," at least. Is there a new search on the horizon, Jeff? I'd sure like to see something a little more user friendly as well. Maybe a tiered search system where you can search with advance details? By User, and by date?

I've tried using it before, but the only way I can seem to come up with anything remotely relevant is to use quotes.

I've often wondered from time to time, how to write good poetry- and make it all... Work.

I've searched for info using the "rank" sort and it was pretty decent. It doesn't seem to include posters' names in said search, though.

By clicking on a user's profile, you can then search for any postings by said user. While this may generate more results than you're looking for, at least you will only find topics in which that user made a comment.

The problem is not the search itself, the problem is the way people search and the words they use. With as many posts as there are, words like "Magnum" or "Cedar" aren't going to score you much. You should also search by rank in most cases for the most relevant results.

If I search for "nasai" by rank in the Trip Reports forum, I get his TR's or those where he is mentioned.

I have always found the search feature easy to use.
