Sea World to Cut Hours for Part Time Employees

Jeff said:

Regarding polar ice, it is of course cyclical, but the overall trend is still down in a scary way in the last four decades. You might get your nearly gone figure next year. That's math, not politics.

I freely admit that I'm not a climate expert. I do know that Al Gore made an "absolute" statement that was alarmist and plain wrong. It saddens me to see political zealots utilize hyperbole (see US is 4th in child poverty) in order to oversell their political slant. Which math you choose to believe is certainly political. Maybe Dr. Bert Wouters will be proven to be as full of **** as Al Gore was on the subject. I don't know.

I do know that we still have polar ice caps circa 2013 and Dr. Bert Wouters, with way more credentials than I, "urges caution in extrapolating current measurements to predict future sea-level rise."

I don't know who to believe. I do know that politics are being played with climate science/math. I will now go watch a Scarlett Johansson movie to work on my albedo.

Hey, melting polar caps might be a good thing for the economy. Imagine all of the construction jobs. Oh, and if they get injured on the job...win win baby!

Nah, then we'd have to provide health care for polar bears and penguins.

Not if we cut back their hours.

Tek almost got a Vote up from me, because I love his last post and totally agree with it, and would love nothing more than for the entire world to know the wisdom that he just shared, but he had to eff it up with the stupid popcorn scent meme.

Roll eyes.

So true. Doing more to help children is such a terrible political slant to get on board with.

And we're still 4th. :) I know that because it's the correct answer on my exam, which now begins..."Despite what you may have read on various coaster-enthusiast discussion boards..."

When I stop laughing inside from being called a political zealot, I'll get back to you.

I'm probably the 4th poorest person posting in this thread. When is someone going to address the issue of Gonch poverty?

Uncaring bastards.

I apologize if I gave an impression this was meant for you. It was meant for Al Gore and other public zealots who utilize hyperbole to pimp legislation. I would not expect the public to know what "facts" are legitimate. Al Gore should.

Doing more to help children is such a terrible political slant to get on board with.

Helping children is an admirable cause. Supporting legislation that limits those "children" or their parents to a 28 hour work week might not fit the definition. Using children to push policy that might demonstrably hurt those children is downright devious.

Reasonable minds can disagree on the subject. One side doesn't get carte blanche discretion to claim their policy opinions are superior "for the children."

As for ACA and the effects on the "children"...it is debatable...

Why not?

I'd have more respect for your argument if you'd said "Reasonable minds can disagree on the subject. Neither side gets carte blanche discretion to claim their policy opinions are superior "for the children."

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

This video is very interesting, and very pertinent to this conversation.

I already hated Sea World after watching Blackfish... pulling the old "Obamacare" loophole and cutting these people's hours is just more reason for me to never spend exorbitant money at such an awful place.

Agree, the economy is hurting and the new Obamacare law is hurting even more employees and businesses. Also, many I know their insurance went up a lot and their deductibles doubled. It's NOT affordable, cheap, free.... it sucks and No, I didn't vote for him! Then again, it's free for the illegals thanks to us tax payers!

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, where did you get the idea the Affordable Care Act included free insurance coverage, and wrong.
