Screamin Swing @ Kennywood in 06!

As confirmed yesterday by Mary Lou Rosemeyer at CoasterBash! in Pittsburgh, Kennywood will recieve a S&S Screamin Swing in 2006. It will replace the Wipeout. Now, here's the kicker...

It will not, I repeat, NOT be an upcharge attraction like Dorney or Knotts. The ride is part of park addmission. The ride will also feature two arms with back to back seating and carry 32 passengers at a time. The ride will also be the tallest and fastest of its kind.

Making an exciting announcement even better, Lake Compounce will recieve the same ride and will also not be an upcharge attraction.

The announcement was the first time it's been presented to the public and expect to hear more about this exciting attraction in the near future. If you remember, when Kennywood announced for the first time they would change the Phantom, they did so at CoasterBash.

PS. No height and speed figures were released.

Great news Mike! :)

I suspect the only reason the smaller models (like KBF's) were upcharged was due to capacity issues...

More S&S flats for everybody! ;)

This came out of nowhere. Best news ive heard in awhile...although im not really very familar with this type of ride...does anyone know where you can find more info on it?

The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000. Track Record: 89 coasters
I'm personally a bit bummed that the Wipeout is going away, but the Screaming Swing (whatever the name ends up being) should be a good addition.

Here is a picture of the ride's general look.

Keep in mind the ride's name is something you'll be able to submit and then the park will choose the best name. Here is some more info about it as well.

I heard that the Wipeout is just being moved to a new location in the park for the 2005 season while another ride is being refurbished.
You heard right....
That's awesome! Perhaps other parks will follow suit as these look like the next major flat ride to show up at every park *cough* like TopSpins *cough* ;)

Anyone ever ride one?

I hope Kennywood and Compounce's versions are run better than the version at Knotts. I only paid $5 to ride and I immediately wanted a refund. I've been to Knotts over a half-dozen times since Screaming Swing opened and I rarely see anyone riding it.

Yes, but as the rides will be FREE, it really won't make that much difference now will it? ;) Also I would think that they would have to run a different program with the larger swings.
Sweet addition! That ride looks awesome. Hopefully I'll be able to fit in it, height wise not fat wise anymore. :)

Weight lost to ride more coasters......90lbs

I think S&S can sell anything, even if it's not a good ride. Not casting any judgment here, since the ride has obviously not been built yet, but the last two big things (Thrust Air and Vertigone) were two huge disappointments to me.

It doesnt seem all that cool to me. Will have to wait and see.

Where is the Wipeout moving to?

I hope this ride isn't like SWAT. Nice to look at but not too great to ride.
For this year, the Wipe Out is being relocated to the site of another ride. Parts for that ride are hard to get for this season at least. Wipe Out may be here in 2006 or not, depends. Kennywood is known for changing their minds very often.

Rumor also has it Kennywood's going to have a 'name the ride' contest for it. :)

The Wipeout will take the place of the Bayern Kurve for at least this year. The Kurve will return, just maybe not in the same place.
