Scream! is vertical.

Scream began vertical construction yesterday with supports going up for the station.

Are there any pics? I'm surprised SFMM doesn't have a webcam. Or do they? I don't know, I haven't been to the site in a while.

Link??? I know they are open on weekends only, so maybe the shutterbugs wait until then.

Nothing... NOTHING... can prepare you for... the Fourth Dimension!

Hooray! Those track colors really fit its beautiful landscape, parking lot.

I talked with the Dippin' Dots guy and he assured me that Cedar Point was to get that 10-inversion terra-woodie-invert-stand-up because Magnum is sinking. The current construction is for the new super-Dippin' Dots stall he is to run.

Parking lot schmarking lots. Who notices the parking lot lines while riding Medusa West? I sure didn't.
No pics yet, park is closed and no one wants to take the chance of being caught. Look for updates saturday night.

I will be there next Sunday (the 2nd of Feb.), and I'll try to take some pics from Goliath, Collosus, & Riddler's to see what I can see.

Me want new coaster.

Are you Blind????They are quite clearly visible when riding and when you get up close to the coaster, Look carefully again when you ride the Front and look down before you go down the drop

Also this pic quite clearly shows the lines too

Is the parking lot part of the theme, or is it that they didn't want to take the time removing the asphalt?

Keeping Youngstown Living Exciting

They could make it part of the theme if they made monster truck shaped trains and park some mashed up cars around it.

Wood Rules!

I don't think this is going to be themed at all, nor do I think that the GP will care very much whether it's themed or not. Remember, it's a people-eater for the low-capacity rides they installed in 2001.

-----------------
For the sake of yourself, don't take anything I say seriously.

Don't look at it as two low capacity rides. Combine their capacities and consider them one BIG capacity ride.

On that pic of Medusa, I think the palm trees in the middle of the asphalt pull the whole theme together. Hope Scream!'s parking lot theme is just as majestic!

Can anybody give me a really good reason why SFMM or any park should go through the extra trouble of pulling up asphalt for a rollercoaster? I haven't heard one yet.

1)Asphalt is ugly.

So what? Not a good enough reason. People walk on it every day without a problem. Look, SFMM has some lovely landscaped coasters, and some build on parking lot, big deal.

I can honestly say that I don't give a rat's ass if a coaster is built on a parking lot or not. Landscaping is never going through my mind while I am riding a coaster. Unless the landscape is an integral part of the ride, it should'nt really matter.

Landscaping is important, but I gueuss SFMM doesn't have trees to start with. Think about it, where would beast be without its trees?

By the way, Medusa would achive greatness if it had the sensation of speeding with trees within touching distance.

If you can't beat your computer at chess, try kickboxing.

I guess I just see it as a wasted opportunity to take something from good to great. If you're gonna spend 10 million on something, I can't imagine adding even 100K more in landscaping would put the project overbudget. I would guess a lot of the acceptance of lot rides has to do with the ride itself, and what park it is at. I can't imagine fans being indifferent about BG making a lot coaster; thier parks are good looking parks, as is most of my home park SFStL. I wasn't very happy to see what they did with Mr. Freeze, and it's just over gravel. I guess since MM had a lot coaster ages ago, its patrons have had time to get used to it.

Personally I think its a shame....and if it truely didn't matter, Mr. Sawyer and numerous RCT users waste a lot of time using landscaping tools.

All I can tell you is that Superman WBMW is built over a barren dirt wasteland, takes a cobra roll through what smells like an open sewer, and is one of the best coasters I have ever been on. Considering that Scream probably will be a Superman clone, I don't think too many people are going to give that proverbial "rat's ass" what it's built on.

You obviously have not been there, given away by that comment you made.

I certainly don't care that the coaster is built over the parking lot. Riding over the pavement is something I probably won't be thinking about while "screaming" down those rails.

Also, from just the few photos of footer marking I have seen, it appears that this is more of a mirror image of Medusa East than Superman IMO.
