Scream! arrivals continue at the Mountain

Posted | Contributed by xbombman

Several new track sections and supports have arrived for Scream!, the new B&M Floorless expected to open in the spring at Six Flags Magic Mountain. The latest arrivals include the top of the lift-hill and dip.

Stairs and other miscellaneous items have arrived and are being stored underneath X. They are most likely for X's transfer track, which is currently being modified.

See what I mean? Try it yourself, try coming up with a name for ANY coaster, and you'll see it ain't as easy as you thought.

I see what people name their RCT coasters and they think they're all cool and stuff lol. Most of these names are either ripped off or laughable. Yet in the end it's really not that deep, the ride still opens and it's still a hit with the peeps.

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

Dude, Out Kast: You've made more posts than Ride It on the subject. It seems you care MUCH more than he does.

Never said I didn't. I DO care. Now what?

"Escuse me, can you tell me where the heck the Mystery Lodge is"?

I think my RCT names are OK. but then again eveyone thinks their names are ok. Anywho...I'm indifferent about the name "Scream" (If I hated it ain't *****t I can do about it anyway)
Would TERRORdactyl be considered a lame alternative name for Scream? I personally think that it would be a better name.
No, that's worse...by far. I seriously hope you were joking when you came up with that name.
I only don't like the name because the S&S tower at SFNE was renamed from "Hellevator" (cool) to "Scream!" (not as cool). Although I understand the more "family oriented" name, it still irks me that SF can't come up with an original name for the coaster at SFMM, which is completely different than an S&S tower. It's still as unoriginal as "Batman" or "Superman."

However, who cares what they name it as long as it's a good ride, which it promises to be.

BTW - Where abouts are they putting the ride? I'm familiar with the layout of SFMM, but have never actually been there. Are they throwing this in the middle of the parking lot, or are they actually theming it in woods or trees like the pictures I've seen of Revolution?

~me

PS - I can come up with plenty of better names for the ride. How about Blue Angel, Blue Devil, Stinger, Poseidon, Aerobatic Adventure, Shocker, Thunderclap, Thunderbolt, Catharsis, Magic Mountain Madness, heck, anything more original than Scream! =P *** This post was edited by nelson324 on 11/19/2002. ***

There are a TON of coasters/rides named Thunderbolt. How would that be better/more original? And puleeze...Aerobatic Adventure? Catharsis? Those would be a marketing director's nightmare!

Scream! is catchy and easily marketable.

Coaster & Amusement Park Christmas cards, clothing, gifts, and stocking suffers, now available here.

I dunno why, but can't stop thinking of that drawn down white-on-black ghost mask. ;)

Also if MM has an inside joke on CP. Scream! Reminds me of Banshee. 'nuff said.

That's one heck of a photo gallery. Nice work!

I see that same mask too, though I can't erase the image of the "tipsy" ghoul seen in Scary Movie LOL. Alright, my only request is that an entire trainful of these masks should be captured on film next Halloween.

Dang! I've only ridden 301 coasters. :(

Yes I was. I think that was the original name that they were looking at for Raptor

Scream 4: The ride or scream for the ride. First there was Scandia Screamer, next Supreme Scream, then California Screamin' and now...... A lot of screaming going on around LA.

boblogone, if *I* were forced to sit in LA traffic for 25 hours a day, I'd be "Screaming" too....;)

bill, who drives 10 miles to work in 15 minutes....

lol Swoosh, TERRORdactyl is awesome. hahaha. Anyways, i was just stating my opinion, SF can do better. atleast its not themed after the movie.

'gator, if I could sit in traffic 25 hours a day I'd be a scientific curiosity under the governments scrutiny, maybe suffering a lot of probes. The only way to commute in L.A. is two wheeled. I miss my seven mile fifteen minute commute.

Forget the name, a year from now no one will care. What happened to the outcry over X, Nitro, The Boss, Wicked Twister, Superman Ultimate Flight, ect. Exactly...

I'm not a big fan of B&M *creampuff* floorless coasters, but I like what this coaster will do for the area it's going in. As for me, I won't be screaming, but I'm sure the GP will. Nuff said.

Pathetic. Just pathetic. Can't Six Flags come up with anyting new and creative? "X" doesn't even impress me. Now they're building Scream! They must be really desparate and worried about the best amusement park in the world, Cedar Point. Cedar Fair has some very intelligent and clever people. That is all part of the new thrill ride at Cedar Point is to keep you in suspense! Guessing what the heck are those red and white track pieces and those bright yellow columns reaching into the sky. Usually, when you go to a Six Flags park, a lot of the rides are shut down for the day. In the many times I've gone to Cedar Point, there was never a ride that was shut down. -And if there was it would be fixed in no time flat. That's because Cedar Point cares about their guests, Six Flags DOESN'T.

Just thought I'd put in my two cents!

Well if I gave you a dollar would you shut the hell up?

I cannot see how anyone can think that the Cedar Fair names are any more "creative" than the Six Flags names, or the Paramount names, or the Universal names or even the Disney names. The only chain that comes up with unique names is Busch. And in reality, the names arent that unique, just foreign to most Americans. I mean Kumba is just "roar" in Kiswahilli. Gwazi, Montu, Loch Ness Monster and Alpengeist are not much different than superheros as they come from African and European myths and legends.

OutKast said it best, try coming up with a name that is not lame and/or corny. Not as easy as you think. Scream! is fine. Steel Venom is fine. Delerium is fine. Shrek is fine. Mission: Space is fine. Haunted Lighthouse is fine. Give it a rest already.

I'm talking about the battle between Cedar Fair and Six Flags! It's not about names, it's about comming up with a NEW and DIFFERENT type of thrill ride or coaster! Obviously you don't know what I'm talking about 2 Hostyl.
Yes Hostyl I'll shut up if you give me a dollar. I'm a poor college kid and need some money for this weekend ;)
