Save Whizzer campaign - worth it or useless?

Why do we all think its for sale? It isnt, Six Flags probably has sold it or will send it to SFMM to break the record, Or send it to another Six flags park.

Im the #1 Canobie Lake Park Fan!!!These are my top 3 coasters:
1. S:RoS @ SFNE 2. Yankee Cannonball 3. Cyclone/B:TDK

We can all wish, cant we Mike? ;)

Ric Flair was hitting on the female host, he told her - "Space Mountain may be the oldest ride in the park, but it has the longest line." WOOOOO!

Perhaps it could have been helpful earlier, but this late it seems the park is set on removing it. Tis a shame.

Quit while your ahead. The Whizzer has been great, but it's time for something new. If we are getting the Flyer, as rumored, than that location is best, and I welcome it with oepn arms. All good things must come to an end. The Whizzer's time has come. Embrace the future :)

Chi-Town is totally right, just let Santas Village or something take the ride. Im not happy that the ride is going, but im also not gonna be sad, it made me laugh so much, but I know something good will replace it. And I really dont think any other 6 flags park is going to get it. Its always gonna be SFGAm. Even if its not there :)

Well we could have a Whizzer Remembrance Day instead on Aug 10 and/or Aug 11. I am going to try to be there both days if I can.

See my coaster pics online at http://www.crosswinds.net/~zerogthrills/

I am planning on being there for the last ride on the 11th...

Goodbye Whizzer, dear friend. You set me rolling many years ago into this fun hobby...

Odds are slim, but, if you do not do the campaign it is 100% sure Whizzer will be gone. Maybe it would help convince some other park to look into purchasing the ride though.
I can't wait to ride a new ride. The whizzer was getting old we ALL knew it was going to be going. A B&M flyer will be making there way into it. Hopefully they don't damage alot of trees. That would be cool to fly thru the whizzers old spot.

it might not be worth it, but SFGAm DOES have a comment line you can call.

i called and left a message about how awful it is that they are removing a historically significant coaster and that it could never really fit in another park.

maybe if enough of us called it and jammed it up with"Save the Whizzer" comments....

i know it won't work but i felt better just making my feelings known.

"What the F up, dawg? Don't be pullin' down Wizzer, you jerks always taering down my rides....Mary Ott never took out rides when she owned the park...You guys are just plain tickin' me off, I hate you and will NEVER return....;)"

Good one Gator! but you forgot the "Yo!" at the beginning! ;)

I'm with CPThrills on this, I think that it is 100% better to atleast have tried even if it does or doesn't work then you can say you did something to help.
Couldn't hurt, anyway.

If you're skating on thin ice, you may as well tap dance.

drop208, just go to the park info on line. i got there from here on CB. then click on contact the park and it will give you a number where you can talk to ACTUAL PEOPLE!!

i urge everyone to do this. please. a part of coaster history is leaving us soon. Anton must be spinning in his grave right now.

-----------------
SAVE THE WHIZZER!!!

i seem to remember hearing about a "Save the Whizzer Society" that had been set up a few years ago...

anyone have any idea what happened to them??

I also think it's useless to try and save it .. If Six Flags is building a new ride there next year, the wheels are likely to be moving to fast to stop now.

For what it's worth, there is no indication in the Village Of Gurnee meeting minutes, that Six Flags has applied for a permit to build a new ride...

(The park need a variance to build over a certain height (120, or 150 feet??).)

The assumption from many is that a coaster will replace Whizzer, but that's not necessarily that case.
