Wow.
-Tambo(still scratching his head over this one.)
After all, it is they who made us care enough about rides to come to boards like these. :)
The Beast had an amazing "ooh" factor when it debuted, and held it for several years. I thought it was a nice piece of marketing at the time to let the little ones feel like they were part of the phenomenon. If a name change makes the current crop of ankle biters happy, so be it.
"Which do you think PKI would do better with? The generic name of "Beastie" or a ride themed to the most watched cartoon on television?"
Did FOF suffer any dropoff when it lost the "Outer Limits" tie-in? I don't think the name of the ride really makes any difference in ridership. It might sell more Odd Parents merchandise at the park, though, and that's part of the bottom line.
I think I need to go home. *** Edited 1/23/2006 8:53:41 PM UTC by crazyforcoasters***

Horrible example.
The theme of the ride didn't change. Hell, the name really didn't either. It's an adult ride (adults probably don't care much). Outer Limits hasn't been on TV since 2002. Outer Limits even in the 60's wasn't nearly the franchise that the Oddparents is.
Kids are a whole different beast.
I can tell you most kids I know wouldn't think twice about missing a ride on Beastie, but watch their heads jerk when they spot a Fairly Oddparents coaster. They'll want to ride, they'll want the merch, they'll automatically think it's better because it has the name of their favorite cartoon.
This move makes sense for the park on so many levels that I've only scratched the surface.

Put it that way Gonch, and it makes me sad how materialistic some kids are (with regards to name association and related merch). Imagine if SpongeBob had an iPod...
Then you'd be thoroughly appalled to know my little man has this TV in his room. :)
It's true - especially regarding the name association.
Just kidding, btw.

Oooo! Ooo! Does this mean we get to count it again?!?!?
LOL! That's what I was thinking, Matt. Oh well. ;-)
I am actually upset over the name change and retheming. I was hoping for "Skyline Chili Express" myself. >:-(
You know names mean EVERYTHING. ;-) I say we boycott the park and throw a fuss. :-D
-Tina
<---who is also KIDDING and could care less what they name it, as long as it's still there. :-P
