Sad to see them go.....

What rides have been regrettably taken out of the parks you attend?

Kings Island, the Zodiac, Sky Lab, and most of the Oktoberfest theming--Bayern Kurve, Flying Dutchman and Bavarian Beetle are missed. Also all the nice trees they killed to make Nick Central.

Carowinds--White Lightnin'--that baby was beautiful at night and made a great ride along with the entire Pirate Island section, Black Widow and Flying Dutchman, it was one of the more scenic areas of the park.

Shame Great American Chicago has to lose Tidal Wave (although V2 is close), Sky Whirl and Rolling Thunder.

One of the reasons CP is always so highly rated, very few of their rides have been removed over the last 20 years, just nice trees! *** This post was edited by super7 on 6/12/2001. ***
SFGAm-Sky Whirl: It was always there, so I figured I'd just go on it next year, when we had a little more time. Boy was I wrong.
Tidal Wave: Heard great things about it.
Adventureland-Super Screamer: Hey, I've never been on one of these, and it'd up my track record. They'd replaced it the year before for a lousy Chance Inverter.

SFGAm- Big Top. I know, it was moved to Southwest Territory as Ricochet, but it's not the same, now there are lines!

Sorry guys, I know it's not nice but I've enjoyed your Tidal Wave now for a few years, I know why you miss it! White Lightnin', now that's sad, it's out of the country. It would be nice to compare it to the Tidal Wave:(, but that's how it goes, too many people don't like the Shuttle Loop or something:(. But the Carrowinds ride I miss would be Blackbeard's Revenge(it's gone right, my friends told me last year it were not there no more). There are a couple I didn't get on (ZForce, RIPin SunnyCA, and Drachen Fire, if'n you go somewhere, STAY CLOSE) other than that I consider myself lucky.
Wizzard's Wizzer for PGA. I really miss that ride, it was my first steel coaster ever.
SFGAm-

#1- Rolling Thunder- My only bobsled coaster, and was my favorite ride until it was removed. Not the tallest or fastest at all, but the wheels lifting off of the track provided a little scare :)

#2- Sky Whirl- A great historic ride that always seemed to be in the park. Part of the great skyline. The last triple wheel in the world. Marriott's magic has decreased a lot now that the Sky Whirl is gone. Not the most exciting ride, but if ridden with a significant other, your outlook on this ride may change considerably ;)

#3- Tidal Wave- I am still very sad and bitter from losing this ride. We got the first inverted coaster, but that could have been squeezed some place else. Six Flags took out a great ride that really made the harbor theming come alive. Back in the days of the Tidal Wave, the theming in that area was SUPERB. I don't know what it was about the ride, maybe that it was my first looping coaster, and only looper with a lap bar, but that coaster was incredible. Not the tallest or fastest, but still very great. Why couldn't Six Flags think about the name, and call V:2 something like 'Tidal Wave: The Next Wave' or something along the lines of that?? THe track could be a light blue, with dark blue supports. I'm sure the park still has those great waves that went along the TW launching area.

Let's take a moment of silence.....
:(
I really miss Excalibur at SFAW (I heard it was the first Arrow of it's type), it was a really cool mine train. It was taken out a few years ago to make way for Serial Thriller and I heard they were going to move it to Frontier City but apparently nothing ever happened.
They did not tear down many trees to build Nick Central as Runaway Reptar was built on the former location of the Crystal Slime Aerobic Mining Maze which was on the former site of the Sunshine Turnpike.

I'm *slightly* sad that Tidal Wave had to go as I *finally* had the nerve to ride it in 1992, but it was gone (but since B:TR replaced it, I wasnt too mad). The other two I was happy to see go.

However, they should have never, Never, NEVER traded in the Yukon Yahoo/Delta Flyer (Bayern Kurve) for that silly Condor ride. I wont ride that thing just off of general prinicples!

OMG, do you have any pictures of this? Or was this just the sky ride. Cause I remember a spinning ride where Condor was, and can you please help me, by just giving me a link to a basic version or something? Thanks
At SFGAm, I was really sad to see Sky Whirl leave. Despite the fact that it may not have been on the cutting edge of technology or a thrill ride, it was just... there. Somthing that I always did, and at night, was amazing. You could go up, see the whole park all lit up and it was a GREAT view without being too boring (Sky Trek Tower) or too thrilling (Giant Drop). I guess the reason I became so attached to it is simply because it was something I did every time I went to the park, and to me, was a part of the park, like Columbia Carousel. You just don't think rides like that leave, and when you find out they are, it's too late to ride them again. I would have greatly appreciated if SFGAm did the same thing PGA did: www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/Lab/3417/1.jpg But they didn't, oh well...

As for Rolling Thunder & Tidal Wave... Kind of odd actually. I've been going to the park since I was a baby, and I never remember seeing either of the 2! Ever! I really regret that I did not ride them... *** This post was edited by Long Live The SKY WHIRL on 6/13/2001. ***

Any ride taken out is a sad event, no matter how bad it was (unless it caused injury or death), there was sure to be lovers of the ride as well as haters... Flat ride or Coaster ride.

I damn near it cried when I found out that WOF was removing the Zambezi Zinger. Its new home, in South America, is a little far for me to travel. Hopefully SFGAm will keep the Whizzer, the last of the speed racers, for many years to come.

According to the "official" count, next year's new coaster lineup will feature 17 Arrow 4-Ds, 21 TA2Ks, 34 B&M floorless's, 17 Intamin Gigas, 12 beemer flyers, and 247 CCIs. And oh yeah, CP will receive one of all of these.
