Sad news: Steve Urbanowicz RIP

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but with Kingda Ka soon to celebrate its 10th birthday/anniversary, I saw a video posted to Facebook from 2005 that aired on CBS news. Steve Urbanowicz was interviewed in that video, and I was remembering him today. When I found out back then that he was from my hometown, I established contact with him. We met once, for a six-hour snack/drink at a local diner, just sitting talking coasters, parks, music, life, food, and everything in between until the early morning hours. It was one of the best conversations I've ever had. I discovered that Steve actually worked right next door to my house. I'd see him in the morning smoking outside, and we always kinda nodded to one another the way people do when you see them every day, but don't know them. I used to see a car parked on my street every day with Nitro and Medusa stickers, but always wondered whose it was. Steve and I had sorta become friends, then he left us too soon. I went to his memorial service.

Yes i met him in 1998 at coaster celebration at gradv which he had a big roll in getting started. I was at riding of the bull a couple years ago and the park was doing a tribute to Rolling thunder as it was about to be torn down and i spoke with the park management to make sure they added him to the tribute, which they did.
