Sad news about Raven (the kitty)

coasterqueenTRN's avatar
Hey everyone!

Some of you may remember me posting a photo of my new kitten, Raven, a few months ago. I regret to tell everyone that he suddenly became ill and had to be put to sleep yesterday. He was only 18 weeks old.

I have a little memorial HERE that tells more about him and what happened. I am still very upset and extremely heartbroken about it but I feel better knowing he is in a better place. My other cat, Janis, has been by my side through all this.

Thanks to everyone for their kind words.

Sad story. How is Janis doing without her little friend?

Just waiting for May 4, 2003. :)

Aw, Raven is very cute. I remember my cats being that little, but I couldn't imagine losing them at that age. My sympathies, also, to you and your family.

Lots of hugs to you and Janis - you know how special that little guy was and what he made happen - he'll always have a special place in our hearts over here. Peace mate.

It's always hard to lose a loved pet. Being a major cat lover, I feel for you. I remember you asking for "coaster" suggestions for a name and was happy you chose Raven.

I'm glad you have Janis to help ease the pain.

Aww, I'm really sorry to hear the bad news. Raven was very cute. Best wishes to you and Janis.

I had tears in my eyes as I read your site regarding Raven...We have three cats ourselves and I dread the day of losing any one of them.

Sorry to hear about that Tina. Pets are family, and it's not any easier letting them go. Just keep in mind that there's probably another little guy out there somewhere who is in dire need of a home.

You have my deepest sympathy Tina....as Jeff said, they ARE members of the family. I hope that Janis is a big comfort to you, and that you are able to have a great time at EastCoaster despite your loss. Cat lovers like us are fully aware of what loving pets they are...
I am sorry to hear this, Raven was a cute little kitty. I know how you feel, I have a cat with feline lukemia (sp?) and he is on his last leg. It is very sad to see him go from a happy, rambunctous little kitten to a cat that just can't get the energy to stand.

Cats truely become a part of the family. They all have distinct personalities, likes and dislikes, and their own ways. I hope you find another cat that can give you as much joy as Raven has seemed to have brought you.

Losing a pet........man it's hard, I know. I'm so sorry that had to happen......I had 2 cats and one rabbit and the one cat and the rabbit passed away within the same week, so I know how you must feel. The one cat that died, Toby, had a liver disease that a lot of cats get, so we had to put him down as well.

Thanks everyone.

Your words mean the world to me. Janis is getting along fine and I think she has accepted that Raven isn't coming back, although she has been running up and down my stairs as if Raven is chasing her (I think he's haunting her??) lol.

It's amazing how many coaster fans are kitty fans also, or at least think about their pets as much as I do. :-)

I know there are lots of kittens out there like Raven waiting for his/her lucky day. I don't plan on just running right out and adopting another one on a whim but I will eventually.

As for Eastcoaster I am not going after all. I was just informed by a friend that the area is expecting six more inches from *****y Mother Nature. Being that I am 7 hours away doesn't help. I know, I am being a wuss. At least I got to attend NCC.

Sorry to hear the bad news, Tina. I know from experience how difficult it is to lose a pet. Your Coasterbuzz family is here for you ;)

Tina: Just a suggestion, but if your other cat is young as well, don't wait to get the second one. It has been our experience that cats get along better if they are together early on. Our older cat (by three years) can't stand our younger one!

I'm sorry to hear that, Tina. Pets really become family members, and it's very sad to lose one.

Tina,

I am soooo sorry to hear this news. I was thinking about Raven all day yesterday when traveling to California. I now this has to be very hard for you and if there is anything I can do for you, you know how to reach me.

Jeff, I totally understand. Janis is nine years old, and every cat she has been around (with the exception of an old roomate's female cat) she has gotten along with fine. It's been six years since I have had an additional cat, and believe me her needs came first before my decision to adopt Raven. Part of the reason why I picked him out is because I knew Janis would like him. His personality seemed to complement hers, and it worked. She has also gotten along better with males than females. They got along great up until he suddenly got sick, and then you could tell she was as worried as I was, and kept by him. It got to be a big sister/little brother relationship. She would play with him and then smack him around and taunt him, and then he would follow her around and annoy her. lol. Then you would find them cuddled up together sleeping.

I will adopt another eventually. It won't be a very long time, but it's not going to be in the very near future.

Sean,

thanks buddy. I called you yesterday (I forgot to store your cell number in my cell and called your other number) and left a message. I am feeling a lot better now. I will talk to you when you get home.
