Rumor section

Does everyone remeber the rumors section that was here like last year or two years ago? Well I think you should bring it back. But only show the rumors that have some truth to it. I think this would be a good way to share rumors about parks without getting yelled at in the new section.

Jeff will never le it back because it causes too much "noise".

I would like it back though.

Since everyone starts yelling when they see it in the General Buzz, isn't that a good indication that no one really cares for the spreading of unsubstantiated rumors? How do you moderate something like that? There are plenty of sites out there where you can tell everyone what the Dippin' Dots guy told you. Coasterbuzz is the site without that garbage and I'd like to see it stay that way.

How are the webmasters supposed to know if there is truth to it? There are way to many rumours for Jeff and the other webmasters to be waisting their time to decide which rumours can "be let in." Most rumours get announced in the General Buzz anyway.

The old section is kinda fun to read nowadays hehe.

I remember that section. I thought that it was fun to read the rumors that people came up with. I was also a big fan of Thrill Rides weekly rumor updates. Although now they have sadly shut down both of them. But I can see it just being a pain from a webmasters point of veiw.

Ok what I meant by some truth is that the rumors have to be believable. Like if someone said that Great America was going to build a 500 foot tall coaster with 18 inversions and your restraint would be a piece of rope with a chain on the end that post would be deleted. but if someone said that the new coaster would be a 115 foot tall B&M then people could think Mabey it could happen. But thats just my idea.

It would be very popular no doubt, but most people post rumours in the general buzz anyway.

The bigger problem is that people just make stuff up, because there are so many people out there now on the Internet and know someone will post it.

Sean C - Who cares if the rumor is believable or not? That doesn't make it any better or any more likely to happen.

Its entries like this that keep the rumors section from coming back. Although it is pretty hilarious in retrospect. :)

I think this site is superior to others because of the good moderators we have.

Wow, that's some pretty interesting stuff in that rumors section (now celebrating 1 year since its close apparentally).

Funny enough, looking at some Cedar Point rumors, the launched ride along Oceana came true. But that was like 2 of the rumors out of the many, many more on the page.

But how much of those two posts were valid rumors versus wild a-- guesses??

Hey, I think if you don't like rumors don't read them. For whoever said they like this site because it doesn't have "garbage" is way out of line. Rumors are fun whether they be believable or not. I would love to have them back on this site. If you don't like rumors, don't read about them. It's that simple people.
Yeah, well the moderators don't have that option. in order to keep watch over the forums, they have to browse through all threads, no matter how stupid or outrageous. I think that it would get pretty annoying to have to delete all the outrageous rumors that people make up.

Sept. 11th 2001, Slayer released God Hates Us All. The song "Disciple" uncannily describes the events of that day, as well as the anthrax letters that followed.

Man the old "Falcon" rumors still sting.
