All parks have disclaimers that the park is not recommended for little ones after dark. I think the age usally is around 10 or 12 they don't recommend it for Kennywood's is 13 I think.
Either way, I TOTALLY agree that they are monsters and get payed to be monsters. Which includes many many ways of scaring people.
The best place to see a lot of forms of how to scare people was SFWoA this year. They had some of the best actors I have seen in years.
Some of the actors included The Devil, who kept trying to offer me things for my wife (yes, my wife) he then helped us pick out some stuff to eat and tried to negotiate with us for our souls afte that. Other times I have seen when people said, " I'm not scared of you" to monsters by the front gate, the monster said maybe you'll like fluffy?" And then this monster dressed as a Gargoyle comes flying out of nowhere screaming and scares the crap out of people and chases them around the fountain! The Ice Cream man is also another fun monster to watch.
Anytime I say something I know they are going to say something back tenfold. It's that time of year.
Now if the monster starts swearing and breaking park policy or touching, etc. then that's crossing over the line and should be reported.
PS- The SFWoA haunted houses were free this past Sat. :)

Haunted Ohio Parks...you've been warned!!

The monsters will always do and say things to try and provoke us...its what they are there to do. When little ones are involved, however, they should know to back off a little because the children don't have the same understanding of things that we do.

"And we are now passing under Millennium Force, which, with the arrival of Top Thrill Dragster, is now...just blue."
Our FrightFest type events, Howl-O-Scream and HHN, specifically ask that you leave *children under 13* at home, or locked in the car...;). I just have to wonder when I see so many people walking around a "haunted park" like BGT is, *throughout* the park, and they're pushing a STROLLER. When we left the park just before 1 am on Friday nite, there were a surprising number of toddlers and kids definitely too young to be out at 1 am, even with their (responsible?) adults...IMO.
Perhaps kids really DO grow up too fast these days....;)

I think that is total BULLS**T for someone to hit a scareicture (what they are called at IOA). Like that woman who came around the corner and popped him. I have never been hit by a guest (not working as a character, but as a hotel lifeguard) but I have been threatened a couple of times. I don't know how I would react to a guest hitting me, I would get really angry, especially since you are trying to provide them with a good time.

Right. A 10 year old says, "You've got an ugly nose!" to someone in a full costume, and it's her fault for the rude behavior of the *customer-service-oriented* employee? A 10 year old?
She learned her lesson now, didn't she? Don't make fun of other people if you can't take it (I'm so sure she was all innocent sounding , too...riiiiiiiiight).
And LOL to monsters being included in the *customer-service-oriented* category! They are supposed to scare the $#!t out of you!
Joe "wish I could get scared more :(" C.

"It's no party at the park, either."
To the monsters who have been assaulted for just doing their jobs: I feel sorry for you, but if it were me, I'd take measures to make sure it never happened again. If that means quitting since "it's part of the job" then so be it. That kind of thing should never be part of any job.
To the jack-holes who actually assault monsters at a Halloween event: You are criminals and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

SCREAM with me... in 2003!
SFWoA did have some outstanding characters at this year's Fright Fest and you were always bound to get a few good chuckles watching others get scared. Some were quite rude, like the devil with the black wings and the Ice Scream Truck guys, but it added to the scare factor at the park. It was part of their jobs.
X Factor
I get it all the time, "You're not nice!!!" I pretty much tell them i'm not paid to be nice...I'm a Monster.
Do any of you at the other parks/events get the inane questions, usually by 10 - 15 year old boys "How do you get a job here? How much do you get paid?? Do you like working here? Slide on your knees! Scare my friend!!"
The scare my wife/gf was more popular than the scare my friend, although I got a few "hey, scare him!" which really worked. Nothin better than to see a guy the size of a linebacker rebound backwards down a hallway screaming like a little girl! ;)
