When the wife and I were at SFGAm on the 4th we noticed an excessive amount of roughness in the valleys on Bull. The most noticeable spots were the valleys before and after the turn into the mid-course brake. But it seemed that every valley had quite a bit of vibration which neither one of us noticed before. There was so much vibration in a couple of spots I thought I'd get a headache which is hard to imagine on this ride.
Now maybe it's me and my advanced age (senility is a terrible thing :) ) but has anyone else noticed this?

DEK - I haven't noticed anything at all. This is weird. I've heard a lot of people complaining about Bull this year: No air, rough, slow, etc. I've had a bunch of really great rides this year, and am slowly starting to appreciate this ride after never really caring for it.
Am I riding a different coaster than everyone else? I'm not doubting the reports, because my view is the only one that is different. I just find it really bizarre.

The coaster that *I* thought was running poorly was Viper. A former #1 woodie of mine gave me a ride that wasnt even worthy of top ten. But perhaps I have said too much :)

I have had completely different rides on Bull this year. In the morning it seems sluggish this year. I remember last year having some awesome morning rides but this year there is just something lacking. I cant put a finger on it but the ride seemed less intense, more boring than anything.
Then in the afternoon/evening I have gotten some of the best rides I have had on this beast since they built it. Loads of airtime, light on the braking, and tons of speed. I am pretty upset that they have started using that trim brake towards the end of the ride. It takes some intensity out of the final heliz.
2Hostyl: Strange you say you had a bad experience on Viper this year. This is another coaster I think I had my best ride on it this year. This thing just hauled some major a$$ and had some major ejector air in 1.3 this year. I am a serious airtime whore and Raging Bull and Viper are what it is all about for me.

No offense but IMO I'm gettinng really tired of people trash talking Raging Bull, IMO I'ts a great Respectable ride with or without airtime.
I'm not trying to trash Bull and I don't think anyone else is either. I love the ride and want it to be around for a long time. I think people are just showing their concern for the ride and how it's being maintained.
To sfmm15: I'm talking about Raging Bull, not Nitro. Hence the topic name.

funny, I had no problem with roughness, but when we went (7/1) it was SOOO braked that it never gathered enough speed to be rough.....thought I'd have to get out and push......luckily the train had JUST enough speed to make it back to the station. Thinking it may run better late, we tried it a few times right before closing....same ride. I can imagine it *could* be great, but not with all the stop signs placed around the track so liberally.....Whizzer had way more power....

I'll admitt though, there *was* a bit of a rattle to my rides (all in the back row, but I paid no attention to if they were on the same train). In no way shape or form did it rise to the level of "roughness". But there was a noticable vibration.
I've noticed the "rattling" the past few years on the Black/Yellow train only. It's not there on the other trains. (I haven't been there this year yet). I do remember 2 seasons ago the black/yellow train was put away (already covered up with plastic) during Fright Fest after I had mentioned something to the ride ops... Maybe just something with that train???

You always find something wrong with Nitro anyway maybe when the people who rode RB who thought it was rough rode it at a bad time. When its early the ride isnt warmed up yet but after that it might be better.

Yeah, there has been vibration, but I've heard that on pretty much every B&M coaster, especially on the ones at SFGAm. (I believe Batman and Iron Wolf are SERIOUS offenders in the vibration category...)
I'm more worried about the extreme braking. I remember a ride I had in the front row earlier in the year. Going up the third hill, the brakes clamped so vigorously that my upper body fell over the lap bar. When we reached the top of that hill, it happened again, as it seemed as though it took forever for us to get the whole train over.
The brake before the helix does the exact same thing, and I haven't had a ride yet this year that was less 'broke' than last year, or any of the ones before that.
Viper, though, was great. I must say, though, that the last time I rode Viper anywhere other than the final car was early last year... :) The wait is certainly worth it. (Even though, usually, it is shorter to get in the middle of the back car...)
