Sony Pictures Animation has pre-emptively picked up rights to the Atari video game “Rollercoaster Tycoon.” Harald Zwart is spearheading the development of the big-screen adaptation as a possible directing project and will executive produce. David Ronn and Jay Scherick, who penned the upcoming Kevin James comedy “The Zookeeper,” are attached to write what will be a live-action/CGI hybrid.

Yeah, like Spielberg's adaptation of King/Straub's The Talisman. I've been waiting for that for a loooong time.

Keep in mind, 'in development' is sort of a catch-all term for somebody, somewhere is thinking or trying to do something with a property, but it hasn't been green-lit yet. I personally have a script that's been 'in development' for pushing five years now. (You may notice how I'm not holding my breath...)

I read recently that a studio purchased the film rights to Rubik's Cube, so sadly, this movie falls a notch, being only the second stupidest idea in Hollywood right now.
