Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 took the top sales spot in its first week of release, pushing The Sims: Unleased expansion pack out of the number one position.

I have had an array of computer problems when it comes to playing my only two PC games: RCT and UR. Maybe this is why I have always been a console gamer. Just put in the game and play........no worrying about PC troubleshooting BS. Too much of a waste of time. :-(
All I can say is if these games were put out on something IN ADDITION to the PC format, like uh....PS2 I would be one happy camper.
Does anybody know if RCT2 or UR or even TR will ever be released on PS2 or anything other than PC???? Someday?
God I hope so.

I'm glad it went to number 1. It is a great game for me because I want to own my own theme park. I'm only 15 years old so I got a while. But while I'm waiting to get my own park, I'll play RCT2 and put my designs in the game.

A big percentage of the people buying it don't even know such a community even exists, much less participates in it. Use your head.

A lot of games use this copy protection scheme. I was pretty familiar with it as we used it when I worked at Take 2. (don't laugh!) =) Turns out it was only problematic for 0.6% of our users. So it you're in the less than 1% that has problems, you were out of luck. =(

I share CDs with two children who smudge, scratch, crack and sometimes shatter discs by rolling over them with their chairs.
I've always had the prior versions on Virtual CD so it was at my fingertips and ready to go. Since I was the only person who played it (thanks to the interface that CBaby found so frustrating and difficult to use), there was no piracy involved. My investment was kept safe. Not any more.
Frankly, people will always buy software as long as it's good. People run to the store and buy videos of movies they can record from broadcast TV or pay cable for free--especially right after they're broadcast for free. iD's Doom was an eye-popping, ground-breaking 10-level shareware game and they still made plenty of cash. People buy albums--when they're actually worth it--regardless of what the recording studios wail about. And people have still been purchasing RCT off the shelf even while millions of people who dumped cash on that rip-off Loopy Larceny had them sitting on their shelves--collecting dust and 100% legal to resell.
Worst of all, the protection scheme isn't anything a user with a Lite-On CD-RW and CDClone won't crack anyway. Pirates will continue to pirate and honest people who'd just like a backup copy get the shaft.
That sucks.

There were rumors of the XBox getting RCT 2. Some UK site had it listed as a preorder. There was a topic about it a month or two ago. http://www.coasterbuzz.com/forums/thread.asp?ForumID=12&TopicID=24236
I don't know what happened to the link for the preorder site it's not listed although I may have overlooked it. I did see it listed though.

As much as I hate to say it, I too have a problem with the copy protection, for the same reason as 'playa. As careful as one can be with a CD, when you have kids involved (even a computer literate 16 year old), these things can get messed up.
I truly understand the need for it, to prevent people from copying and handing the games off to friends.
