Roller Coaster Tycoon - Golden Ticket

I recall reading or hearing somewhere that when LL was done that Sawyer stated that LL took the RCT game engine to it's very limits,so if we see a new game it most likely will be the RCT2 sequel that we've all been hoping and waiting for.I'm thinking that the new title being RCTGT will probably focus on some new flat rides as well as a few new coaster types much like LL's title was an indication of what that expansions new features focused on,either way I can hardly wait. We've already got Hyper Rails, which is coming along rather well and now a new RCT game on the way. It looks like a flood of new coaster games will make up for a lack of new coasters this year.

This is Chris Sawyer's website. Says here that he's been working on two new projects for the PC ever since LL came out. Kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Nice info, Mustang, if you think about it that update wasn't too long ago. It does make you wonder.

If I'm not mistaken isn't one of those projects the monopoly tycoon game? As far as the second project they speak of the RTC Gold might be what they're talking about. I like to remain hopeful and say it will be a ride add on but it does sound alot like a RCT 3-pack. (EDIT: Nevermind, that update was more recent then I thought so I doubt that the monopoly game was one of those two projects as it was released sooner then the update I think.)

It is on gamestop.com and it says it will come out may 21.
How did you find it at gamestop.com, Corvette3?

Well, you dont really have to "work" on a 3 pack with RCT, CF, and LL in it. The games are already done, all you have to do is put them in now fancy box. This is definately going to be a add-on, not a 3 pack. It doesnt take a year to do collector sets.

Somedays it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.

If it is a 3 in 1 how come its taking so long. Putting 3 games in a packags shorld take a month at the max.

I'm from RCT Station, where this news started, Red Phoinex has all the info about this. As a staff member, I along with the rest are getting the info from Red. Here's what he told us this morning before posting it:

"There have been reports of a new RollerCoaster Tycoon title in the works, and it was even pointed out recently on the Amazon and EB websites. I've been able to confirm that this game is not a sequel or expansion pack, but rather a bundled package. It will consist of the Original RollerCoaster Tycoon, the Corkscrew Follies/Added Attractions expansion pack, and the Loopy Landscapes expansion pack.

This packaging technique isn't something new in the gaming entertainment. Just released a few months ago, Ensemble Studios and Microsoft packaged the AoEII: Age of Kings along with The Conquerers expansion pack to form a Gold Edition," Red Phoinex.

SFNE Man -- there are many possible reasons for it to take so long. For one thing, they could just be holding off for a little while since RCT and the expansions are still selling well all on their own. Also, it DOES take a while to design packaging, put together documentation, prepare the installation, and go through duplication to get ready for release. A month would be a VERY optimistic figure for all of the above.

Why not send an e-mail to Chris Sawyer on his website asking if indeed there is a new game in the works or if it's just a re-release of the current games in one pack?

Do you think the two new projects were Zoo Tycoon and Monopoly Tycoon. He doesn't just specialize in roller coasters you know. There Fast Food Tycoon and Ski Resort Tycoon (possible different name) and a few others. I also believe hearing that another expansion is impossible on the game engine. So there you have it. I strongly believe it is just a package deal. If you think about it the title can tell you everything. Buying this product is the "Golden Ticket" to having all the RCT's in one package.

P.S.-RCT has been $30 since it came out in March 1999. I remember getting it for free from my parents because I got my finger slammed in a door:-D. I think I got it within two weeks of it coming out and didn't even know it.

If Chris isn't going to work on RCT, I wish he'd put out a sequel to Transport Tycoon, it was one of the first computer games I was addicted to.

"If you want to follow me, you've got to play pinball."

The only "tycoons" CS has worked on are Transport and Rollercoaster. The rest were from everywhere, including one from Microsoft (which is the only other high-quality "tycoon" I've played, besides Sid Mier's.) Don't insult Chris by sugesting he might have been involved with Ski Resort, Fast Food, Airport, Mall, Car, or any other tycoon! Those are all just half-baked games that are guarenteed to sell a few copies because they have "tycoon" slapped on them (RCT was also one of those that had it 'slapped' on, originally it was going to be White Knuckle, I think. I read it on CS's website somewhere.)

guys forget it

rct gold is a three in one pack

Rct + CF and LL

We need Sceen shots. here is the plan We will have an Alpha Team, Bravo Team, and Echo Team. Alpha Storms Chris Sawyers House, and take hime captive. Bravo Team Interogates Chris, while Echo team confiscates his CPU and puts up screenshots on the internet. If you want to be on a team jus choose one. Alpha, Bravo, or Echo

Why would he bring out a 3 in 1 pack. There is no point. You can already get the original and loopy landscapes together, (or at least you can here in england) and as loopy lanscapes has added attractions with it, there would be no point bringing out all three. Also, i think if it was just all three it would say on EB, because if i pre-ordered it now, i would be really annoyed if it turned up as all three when i have already got all three.

Also, if you go to find the game yourself through strategy it has the "We recommend these Items" part. It seems stupid for EB to put Rollercoaster Tycoon original in there if this is a 3 in 1 package, as you would get the original in that anyway.

Of course i could be totally wrong and EB might not know what it is themselves, and are just advertising for it anyway.

I agree with you ms696969, why would a re-creation of RCT, CF, and LL be the new game when folks already have that now. I think (I hope) that the new game will be a spin off game that will feature new coaster types and new thrill rides and much more than what is currently available for RCT.
This is undoubtedly a bundle for people who don't already have the game. Just like Railroad Tycoon Gold and all the other "Gold" versions of games. They take the original and bundle in all the expansions with a new box and presto, new product. MAYBE they'll toss in some extra scenarios, but that's about the best you can hope for.
