Rides That should be brought back to Life

The Bat is the first one that comes to mind. I would also love to see a Virginia Reel and a Steeplechase here in the states.

Some of Harry Traver's old coasters with the nurses' stations at the end? lol.

As far as parks I would love to see Chippewa Lake and the Magic Harbor brought back to life.

Gimme speed, height, airtime and plenty of LAUNCH!!!

Bring back the Texas Cyclone. Hmm? I'm sorry, what? It's still there?

I DON'T think so.

I found it rather funny that Elitch was even a part of the Preservation Con. I guess it had to, but considering its record on preservation, I don't think it deserves it.

Out of curiousity, what does Elitch get out of hosting an event? Seems like a waste of money to me, especially when the event's participants couldn't give a damn about the park in the first place. The fact that they did anything at all for you is generous, if not a bit naive.

It always amazes me how some people take some things as their god-given rights. Maybe I'm missing something and don't deserve to be graced by their presence.

Anyway, regarding the actual topic, I'd like to think most rides that are removed are removed for the better. Sure it's a shame when a classic coaster or other ride is removed, but if it's for the benefit of the park as a whole, I'm for it.

Laneman101 : Good to hear from someone who worked at West View. I agree the Whippett was a fine coaster, which is why I'd love to see it reincarnated. I received an Email today from a Knoebels employee who told me Knoebels considered buying the Whippet and moving it to their park, but due to their terrain they couldn't fit it in. He told me they also considered buying and moving the Dips and even consulted with Andy Vettel on the issue. I also agree that the West View dark ride was outstanding.
I don't agree that West View was better than Kennywood. It didn't have the financial resources or the management. But West View was certainly better than a lot of other parks. It effectively died with George Harton. From his death on, the park froze. it added no more rides, stopped advertising, and abandoned all its promotions. As Kennywood was adding the log flume and rafting ride, upgrading the Pippin into the Thunderbolt, and continually increasing its television time, West View was saving money by not advertising. It's a real shame, but an 80 year old woman who only came to the park twice a year could not make good decisions.
Hi trekker,

I heard it was offered to the grandkids but they wanted no parts of the park.

Youre right,Kennywood did continue to improve and West View sat idle..

West View was pretty much landlocked too.

But I think their two coasters were better than Kennywood's.

The Whippet would have been real hard to relocate, being built in the valley that it was.(not to mention the condition it was in :) )

Did you know there was another member of the Vettel family that worked at West View...He was in charge of maintence, his name was "Buddy" Vettel.

I guess it's not fair to simply dismiss all those drachen fans because at least for myself i was lucky enough to ride her when i was like 14, at the time it was the biggest baddest coaster, (remember the feature on the show 'how'd they do that') I was awed to ride it, and still wear my overly small drachen fire t shirt to sfgam when i go from time to time. I personally don't remember it being rough but obviously being from shockwave territory i understand those old arrow's. But no matter how it behaved in it's later years the ride still holds that special illuminated place as the baddest.
Any sort of -O-Plane , they're all fun.

Bodysurfing. More Fun than any coaster!

Steel Phantom(but not in place of Phantoms Revenge, a much better ride IMO), and Chaos at Opryland...

------------------
The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000.
Track Record: 62 coasters at 17 parks.

I don't know how many people here have been on Windjammer, Steel Phantom, SFMM's Flashback, and Drachen Fire. I have. They are the only coasters I've, uh, experienced that I'd never ride again, and I must not be the only one. Three of 'em are no more, and the other is effectively (despite SFMM's rather desperate attempt to pretend otherwise) SBNO.

Having said that, I'd marathon any and all of the others before even stepping foot on DF, should it ever rise from its well-deserved grave ...

Age and treachery will always overcome youth and skill.

Does anybody have a picture of the CBC, I haven't seen one in a while and would like to refresh my memory.

I think a New copy of Drachen Fire built with Arrow's bolt together track and computer designed could be a great ride not only for us but it would also put Arrow back on the map for coaster manufacture.

If you don't like the ride shut up and get out of line.

All the coasters built by Carl Phare in the Pacific Northwest.

1. Big Dipper, Jantzen Beach,Portland Oregon(1928-1970)

2. Giant Dipper,Playland,Seattle Washington(1930-1961)

Thank God we still have the PNE Coaster in Vancouver,BC.

Has anyone heard of a "Whirl-Fly"?

I have a pic/drawing of a Whirl-Fly, in action, in one of the coaster books at home.

But the ride that really NEEDS to be "brought back to life"....R:UE...;)

All the rides at the former Lakewood Park (in Charlotte, NC), including the side-friction coaster there, Black Beard's Revenge, and the Wild Bull (both formerly @ PC).
How about Zonga without OTSR's...as a matter of fact, why not bring back every freakin' old arrow looper with lap bar retrofits!
