Riders will get wet, possibly soaked, OK drenched!

At the old Riverside Park there was a set of waterslides where Blizzard River now stands. There was one called "Riptide," which basically involved you sitting on a plastic toboggan, dropping down a plunge that felt like 90ยบ (mainly because it became steeper as the drop progressed and went in on itself, almost like the way EuroFighter looks), flying off the track and eventually landing to glide into a pool of shallow water that you just didn't have enough speed to make it across, hence sinking into about 2 feet of water soaking you to the bone.

I was still in high school when I last rode this contraption, but I remember being wetter than I've ever been on any ride, and loving it, running back for more.

"To get the full experience on Popeye you've to ride it in the middle of summer when all the effects are on."

That explains why I didn't get wet on my only trip on Popeye in January.

Still waiting for info on BGW's rapids ride Will anyone put me out of my misery? Thanks.

Roman Rapids at BGW was just exceptionally lame. There were a few waterfalls, but the ride was basically a *dud*. The lack of spinning meant that only a couple people even got wet. Overall, I'd say it was the lamest raft ride I've been on...

Just to prove that Busch CAN do better...Congo River Rapids....quite wet, the waterfalls aren't the greatest, but the "water blasters" are just that....they REALLY pump out quite a volume of water, and if you see the bucketload heading for ya, it WILL soak ya. There is considerable spinning if you manage to make good contact with the side walls. Overall, a lot of fun, fairly wet (mostly your butt, though), and a decent ride. The waterblasters really ARE the difference at BGT...;)

I rode ROman Rapids at BGW last summer and ALL of us got soaked, we were wet for like our 4 hour ride back home.
Dollywood's Smoky Mountain River Rampage is a real soaker. It is short compared to other rapids rides, but it is still great.

I also enjoyed the FSS at Carowinds. It was fun, but had long lines.

Popeye and Bluto is the wettest ride I've ever been on, and I rode it in February. The water cannons on the Olive, and many of the waterfalls were on. If there are any more waterfalls and such that were turned off, I can only imagine what it's like in the summer....

As for a ride I didn't expect to get soaked on, Dudley Do-Right comes to mind. I didn't expect to get almost as wet as I did on Popeye, but I did. I also got soaked on the Hydro Surge at MB Pavilion, though not nearly as bad as IOA's rides. Jason Wilson, did it really flip over? When?

It's too bad, I've never been on Buzzsaw Falls, despite being to SDC many times.

I may not have been on one of the wettest rides ever, but I did once go on an Arrow Shoot-the-chutes (as opposed to a log ride) without expecting to get that wet.

Oops.

If you're familiar with theses rides, you'll know that the splashdown is a three stage operation: One, the bottom of the boat hits, sending a wave in front of the boat. Two, the top of the boat hits, sending up a nearly vertical wave, which falls right back down on the boat. And, three, the first wave bounces back off the bridge (there's always a bridge), and drenches the boat.

Well, silly me decided to humor my friends and go on Splash Water Falls at SFGAm, even though I don't like getting wet. I sat in the first row, and for one glorious second, I thought I had it made: I saw the first wave shoot out in front of me, and thought; Ha! This isn't so bad, after all!.

That was when, in horrifying slow motion, the water in front of me just shot straight up. As I saw an entire wall of water collapse around me, all I could was "uh-oh."

And then my feet, which had somehow survived the ride, got drenched on the bridge.

Needless to say, I've sworn off Arrow Shoot-the-chutes.

I hear America screaming...

Yeah about 4 years back the Hydro Surge flipped after passing through the end of the tunnel. It use to have a waterfall that spanned the length of the exit of the tunnel that FILLED the boat with water, but apparently it got too much in one car and the next turn the boat flipped. This was turned off along with the giant green pipe that use to BLAST (it was freekin painful how much there was) you with water. i think the rapids themselves were tamed a bit as well. When it flipped they couldnt get out cause they had the old seat belts that required a key to unlock, and all of them died. They now have replaced the seatbelts.
