Riders needed for PKI video shoot!!!!

On May 15th-17th, a video crew from the Travel Channel will be at Paramount's Kings Island to shoot three different rides for an upcoming series on thrill rides. The three rides that are going to be featured on the show are Son of Beast, Drop Zone, and the brand new Tomb Raider: The Ride.

So why am I mentioning this to you? Well..... this could only mean one thing.

I need riders! Lots of riders!

Here is what I am looking for. Any enthusiast over 18 years of age, who is, well, VERY enthusiastic, willing to re-ride an intense ride with no problem, yet has no problem waiting for long periods in between 'takes', and can be able to stay the entire time of the shoot. Being comfortable in front of a camera is something I am looking for also. Any enthusiasts who are under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or legal guardian present. You will have to fill out a release form before the shoot and a legal guardian is required as is a Social Security number.

If this sounds like something you could be able to handle, please read on.

On Wednesday May 15th, the video shoot is scheduled to take place on the brand new, totally immersive, Tomb Raider: The Ride from 8:30AM- 4:30PM. I need a total of 150 riders for this day!! Yes, you read that correctly. One hundred and fifty folks that are willing to be subjected to what Tomb Raider: The Ride has to offer.

On Thursday May 16th, I need a total of 100 folks to take place on the ultra-intense, 218-foot tall, only looping woodie, Son of Beast from 8:30AM-4:30PM. The coaster is running better now than it has in the past and should be providing some excellent rides during the shoot.

On Friday May 17th, I need a total of 100 people who would love to free fall from a 315-foot tall tower. Yes, Drop Zone is being included in this shoot which takes place from 7:00AM-9:45AM. Talk about a wake-up call!

Please keep in mind that the park is closed to the public on the days listed above and other rides will not be open for riding, with the exception of May 17th. On May 17th, PKI will be hosting the annual Math and Science day. As an added bonus to those attending the May 17th Drop Zone shoot, the park is offering us the very nice perk of being able to stay in the park after the shoot and ride for the rest of the day with the Math and Science folks.

Ok, so I know there are going to be some questions. Let me try and answer a few right now. =================================================================================
Q: So basically this is kind of like an ERT at a coaster event. Right?
A: NO! This is not a ERT of any kind and should not be considered 'ERT-like'. This is a video shoot that will include long delays. Yes, we may be able to get in a lot of rides, but we might get as little as one ride also. =================================================================================
Q: How much does this cost? Will we be getting paid at the end of the day?

A: This does not cost anything to you. We will NOT be getting paid for this unless you count getting to ride something on a day the park is closed. The way I look at it, getting to take part in something like this is better than pay. =:^) =================================================================================
Q: I want to attend the shoot, but I want to bring a friend who does not like rides. Can this person just sit out?

A: It is highly recommended that all people planning on attending the shoot should be able to ride and re-ride with no problem. If someone is doubting they can re-ride or doubt they are not in the best health to do something like this, please, by all means, reconsider coming. All health warning remain the same as they would on a normal operating day, No exceptions. ================================================================================= Q: What if I get bored of waiting? Can I just leave?

A: Sorry, but once inside the park for the shoot, you should remain there unless notified by the park. If you can only stay for part of the shoot, please reconsider coming because the park has asked us to stay the entire time asked. Taking time to let someone out could result in a delay with the shoot. ================================================================================= Q: This sounds great! I can't wait to show off my new coaster shirt that I got at another park on TV! Can I do that?

A: NO! The proper apparel for the shoot is solid color, bright clothes with NO LOGOS OF ANY TYPE. Anyone that decides to ignore this rule will not be included in the shoot. ================================================================================= Q: What if it rains on one day, and not the other? How will this effect the shoots?

A: The schedule listed above is tentative and is subject to change with very little notice. Please remember that. ================================================================================= Q: Will lunch be provided?

A: At this time, there is no definite answer. Perhaps the park or crew will be providing food, or perhaps we will be able to leave the park for a lunch break. More info on this will be given to those at a later time. ================================================================================= Q: I am not a member of ACE or any other coaster club. Can I still attend?

A: Yes, you may still attend, but you HAVE to be enthusiastic and very positive. This is the major requirement. You also have to be able to follow all rules listed and realize that this is a video shoot and NOT a normal day at the park. =================================================================================

Well, that's some of the questions out of the way I guess. If you would like to take part in one, two, or all three video shoots, please e-mail me at sflaharty@aceonline.org with the word 'video' in the subject line, but NO LATER than May 12th! Within a few days, I will respond back to you with more info.

If for ANY reason you are doubting anything about the shoot, or just don't think you can handle it, please reconsider coming to the park that day. The park is counting on us to provide the level of enthusiasm needed to make the final product look great. I hope to see you there! -Sean Flaharty

Alright, Sean....this is TOO much. Can you please come here and be our rep! Or at the very least, let Jill know we NEED to move to Ohio.....You're "the bomb", as the kids say...;). Seriously, have a great time and enjoy....wish I could go!
Dang it.... I used my last day off for the CP media day. Grr.

He let the contents of the bottle do the thinking; can't shake the devil's hand and say you're only kidding.

What's the deal with food? Will we have to bring our own? Will there be some provided, if so for free or will we have to pay? Will they charge us for parking?

Sean is a great rep and a nice guy to boot. I must say though that it is PKI and TRAVEL/Discovery that are the great ones, If not for thier generosity this would not be possible. I could see where they could get employees to do the same, So I thank them as well as Sean for doing this and organizing it :)

Chuck, who know Sean spends hours getting this together and apreciates it.

Americana (Now called The great americana amusement park at Lesourdsville Lake) is opening in 2002. Indivdual visits are very improtant to the parks survival.

Dang! That sounds sweeeet! Too bad I live three states away ... I wish we had more stuff like this at SFGAm... :(

Posting, "Me too" like some brain dead AOLer. I ought to to the world a favor, and cap you like old yeller...

I'm still thinking if I want to but while i'm thinking I was wondering if we have rules like you have to keep your hands down or something like that. Also, why not the Beast also. I guess it would be hard to film the ride but just wondering. This ride is just as good as the others if not better
One more thing, do you think that spots might fill up quick or are you going to have to push to get enough people?
Dang!!!! If only I wasn't 14, my only transportation isn't here this year. :(

I just relized these are weekdays. That sucks. I wont be allowed to skip school.

What if I'm uncomfortable giving out my Social Security number? Can I use my Ohio Driver's License number instead?

This is going to be awesome!!! What a way to start my two week coaster trip. Can I have dibs on the front seat?!? J/K...but the perception of speed is greater in the front. I love the little moment of hangtime while exiting the loop too.

Sean, I emailed you today. Please hold two spots for some of the most ecstatic coaster junkies in the Midwest! Thanks so much!!!

Well thats sweet! I have a few questions though.. they will be in the E-mail.

Well, there IS a Showcase Cinema right across the street. :)

Chris

This is PERFECT.. I'm going to CP on the 15th and 16th, then on the way home Friday morning, me and my sister can hit the Drop Zone shoot and then the rest of the park. And to think that we were wanting to go so badly to PKI and it was to be closed. :) This is just TOO perfect.

Pearl Jam + Roller Coasters = Heaven on Earth. :)

Damn...that sucks. I won't be able to do it. I'm sure I'd be perfect for it, I can handle re-rides and I am a model so I am all cool in front of the camera!

Not being 16 is a major pain in the...:)

A word of warning to everyone interested in attending. I had the chance to do a shoot for this same program 2 weeks ago at SFOG and even though we had plenty of rides be ready for LONG periods of downtime. I had a good time talking with other enthusiasts but if you dont like down time I would encourage you NOT to attend.

I wish I could get up there but my car would not hold up to the drive and I dont have the cash for both a plane ticket and a motel stay.
