All the stunts cars and track had been removed from the La Cachot building when the fire occurred. While the fire didn't destroy the building, it was deemed not feasable to rebuild it, and it was razed. Some thought was given to building a new version at the time, but this too was shelved. The stunts were sold on eBay not too long ago. Harry says that there is a new dark ride in Kennywood's future. Dark ride technology has come a long way since the day that La Cachot (and it's predecessor,Zoomarang)were built. Let's wait and see what happens.
Sky Slide at CP. What did they replace it with, the stupid Bearnstein Bear playground? Well, whatever it was, I don't even go in that area of the park anymore.
How about Great Adventures silly attempt to retheme the Yum Yum Palace into the "Great Character Cafe?" It's a pretty neat building and Yum Yum Palace is a much more appropriate name, Bugs Bunny statue or not. Great Adventure worries me that they will gradually remove a lot of the "fantasy" buildings in favor of their irrating superhero and cartoon themes.
Adventureland taking out the galaxy steel mini, the Super Screamer, a staple in the park from the beginning to put an "Inverter" ride...just a tragedy...
Agent Johnson said: "I miss the Fun House at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. Now it houses the 'Catapult', an indoor scrambler." I didn't know of a fun house prior to The Catapult, but the building was home to "The Enchanted Laboratory of Nostramos the Magnificent" for several years. I belive it was 1989 or so when the show was introduced. It was a one-man show, with the lead character interacting with an animated owl, crow, and dragon. It featured some cool special effects and was a very well-done show. It is being rethemed this year, as is the entire Hastings area, to a show with an Irish theme. I believe the Catapult operates outdoors near the Wirbelwind Wave Swinger ride.

I remember riding the indoor scrambler at Busch Gardens when I was a kid.
Hey Soggy, I'm not laughing! Peoplemover was the coolest ride! Especially when you went into Tron. It was the perfect way to relax, and just get a good view of tomorrowland and fantasyland. Oh well... :(
Hey, while I was reading other posts, I remember another ride removal/replacemtn that "devastated" me. It is a small park in Wisconsin Dells, I think it's called Riverview Park/ Waterworld. Its a waterpark with a few rides there, they have a little midway with the "classic" flat ride, Himalaya, Tilt-A-Whirl, Galaxy (not a flat ride) etc..... And they had this AMAZING fun house, it also had a slight horror theming to it, making it even better. The outside was like, yellow, red, and green, and there was this clown rocking back and forth with an axe abouve the door. And inside, truely amazing!! I could go in over and over, one time I went through like, 14 times, and it is a very big funhouse! It took like, 3 hours! And this is where the bad part happens.... We went last year, and i made a straight shot for it, and as i near it, i dont see the peak of the building, or the clown, as i usually would, this worried me, so i get up top "it" and guess what it is? AN INFORMATION BOOTH!!!!!!!!!! OUCH!!!!!!!!!! I had such a hard time coping!
SFoT tore down the Intamin Barnstormer, Air Racer, and replaced it with a craptacular scrambler...

PKI's Flight Commander - it was an empty place on the Coney Mall until I noticed last summer that they put an upcharge "trampoline" attraction. Also I agree with the Skylab thing. Ugly rock climbing walls.
CP's Earthquake Ride - for Berenstain Bear Country now Snoopy Boutique.
SFGAm's Sky Whirl - Rest in peace. The park won't seem the same with Deja Vu in its place.
Zambezi Zinger - I did get to ride it back in '89 and was my very first Schwarzkopf speed racer. Very stupid decision to put a boomer there.

I resent the fact that Disney did not spend any money when building it's new tommorowland in 1997. Look what they came up with: Honey I shrunk the audience...(boring after a few times)...Innoventions ( really boring after the first time)....no more submarine (at least it was a classic)...rocket rods (terrible, was that suppoused to be a coaster? I don't get it, they slow to about 5 mph on every curve, and there are quite a few curves, they have the lowest capacity ever!) ANyway, the new tommorowland was not much of an improvement!
Anyone miss Hunt's Pier, or any other piers or rides thats now gone from Wildwood NJ. I miss rides like the Flyer Rollercoaster, Whacky Shack, Skua pirateship, Jumbo Jet coaster, and many other rides that are gone forever.
I remember in 1991 Conneaut Lake Park scrapped/sold 5 rides to make way for waterpark expansion. They lost a wooden Wild Mouse, a Twister, Tempest, Sea Dragon, and a ferris wheel.
A few nobody mentioned yet, in order of their gravity..........
1) Edgewater Park (Detroit, MI) closed and replaced by a convalescent home.
2) CP's Bayern Kurve (after moving to VF) dismantled and replaced with a rock climbing wall, some tables and chairs at the end of the 1997 season.
3) CP's former Wild Mouse (also moved to VF and renamed Wild Rails) dismantled and replaced with an Arrow Mad Mouse in 1999.
Actually, I like the Mad Mouse's 42" height requirement (as will 4 year-old CoastaMidget this summer).....but it can't replace a classic Schwarzkopf mouse, now can it?

Dark Rider, I feel your loss! I had intended on commenting on the destruction of Hunt's Pier, but you got here before me!
The Pirate Ship "Skua", Jungle Land, and the wonderful Flyer coaster were heartlessly bulldozed to install Vekoma's multi-element Kamikaze (which SFOG patrons can now enjoy as The Ninja). The Flyer was my very first coaster, and when I went down there with my family on our annual Wildwood vacation and saw it gone, I cried my eyes out! (Hey, I was only 11 years old... although I am 22 now and would still cry if it happened today).
In my opinion, a classic instance of change being for the worse... much worse. Yeah, it was a little wooden coaster, but it sparked my coaster enthusiasm, and its death coincided with the death of one of the greatest little amusement parks ever!
Agent Johnson,
From what I have heard, Conneaut lake Park re-installed their Chance Twister a few summers ago right next to the dark ride. That is one vicious little ride, and since the ride-operators like to leave guests on for over 3 minutes, that's one I'll definitely be passing on if I get there this season.
Sincerely,
Jackie Gaughan
Another example is bear-ytales being replaced by kingdom of the dinosaurs. I know it's not a coaster, but come on!
I have three... The PGA Whizzer was replaced years later by White Water Falls, The Edge was replaced by a Rock Climbing Wall (those seem to be a omen of the site of a fromer ride) And the SCBB tore down the Jet Stars for a brutal piece of crap named Hurricane

I know. That was one of my favorite rides (sorry if im a little late, but live with it). I would hit that then the coasters in that small area (adventure express, racer, and vortex). They screwed up my schedule!!!!!!!!!!!! Start a petition!

I loved the Skylab and Flight Commander. I guess nothing is better than two pay attractions. :(
Others:
-Epcot's Journey Into Imagination changing to Journey Into Your Imagination.
-Drachen Fire to SBNO Drachen Fire(please reopen!)
-Horizons to SBNO Horizons to No Horizons... Hopefully, Mission:Space will be as good as the World of Motions to Test Track change
(I've forgiven Disney a lot since though-TZToT, RnRC, Pooh, Buzz, TestT,...-which makes me realize how much Disney likes to replace instead of add to)
-The Soap Box Cars to Windjammer!!!! Yuck!!!
-All of CP's rides mentioned plus I heard that Jumbo Jet or something like that was a decent coaster. Anyone know what replaced it?
