Riddler Valleys @ SFMM

check out that story @ http://www.beakerzcoasterz.com/article.php?sid=24

How come a ride open since 1998 , never had problems like this at all would valley?!??!

That's odd. Nothing this major has happened to this ride from the day it opened on April 4, 1998. Must be wind or something was wrong with the wheel assembly? If I remember correctly, the train stalled in between the two over-the-top diving loops?
How many times has Mantis valleyed? I remember it being over 5 times, but I don't recall the exact number...anyone know the exact?
Wait a minute. The report says that it valleyed last Thursday and the ride had guests on it. That is odd considering that SFMM is only open on weekends right now. (Saturday and Sunday) Was that during a special event or what?

Mantis only has valleyed once, April 21st, 2001 BEFORE the operatin season started. 60mph winds and a greased track were said to be the contributors. http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/cpplace/thread.asp?ForumID=1&TopicID=4371

Never has Mantis valleyed during the operating season with people on it.

Well, the report is wrong is it says it had guests on it. The ride vallied in the morning during testing.

I really trust that Cedar Point management is not stupid enough to test a ride off-season in 60 mph winds. Say it to yourself. 60 mph winds. Winds like that alone could have chopped off ALL THREE of their VertiGo tower legs in one blast.

Ok, 60mph occasional gusts, of course I didn't mean sustained winds, that'd be silly. I wonder if the first drop trim was on...
According to S&S, the Vertigo towers were designed with a 90mph wind load, which is standard wind load for Northern Ohio, so a 60 mph wind shouldn't affect things, but obviously it did.

I find it also hard to believe that they used "the pull through method" to get the train back to the station. It would make much more sense to simply remove the upstops and pull each car off with a crane.

Sorry Jeff, I guess that I coppied the information down wrong...I will change that when I get home today. My bad, simple mistake. And I guess it wasnt on a Thursday...considering that the park isnt open on weekdays, I did that last night, wasnt all that awake, sorry.
And there isnt a way that I could get a picture, I wasnt there, this was information that I got from someone else.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Big deal...

Have you ever considered that maybe it's not the park that's the problem, but YOU?
