Lol. :)

I still don't approve of Lo-Q, though.

Bring on Snoopy on Ice!

crazy horse, I was serious about the 12 hours of TV comment. If seeing Nick characters is the most important thing for a kid to experience, isn't that the best way? No gas to consume, no wear and tear on the vehicle, no worries about passes, parking fees, or fighting crowds. At the least, why go somewhere were Nick is just a minor part of the experience, as opposed to the main attraction.

I disagree. I know many teens and adults (myself included, but I'm a freak), who really love the characters at the parks. I loved the Marvel Parade at IOA, I run up to give Spongebob and Patrick a hug when I see them greeting kids at the old Paramount Parks, and as much as I hate Six Flags, I love Batman and Bugs! The thrill of getting to meet these characters, even to an adult like me, created a happy memory of whichever park.

You mean we're opening the issue up to which characters the adults would prefer now too? Because that's going to change the dynamic considerably. Snoopy and the Gang may have just come back into relevance. :)

The only thing I keep hearing over and over again is the fact that kids like Nick more than they like The Peanuts. That's not a sustainable reason to keep the license for all the reasons I have previously mentioned. There is more to the cost/benefit equation than likability.

Again....are you serious?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

I am sorry but where did the info about Kings Island switching to the Peanuts originate?

I have been all over the KI web site and see nothing about it....

If you look at it this way: both CP and KI get over 3 mil visitors a season. One with Peanuts, one with Nick. I doubt that will change much. Even if merch sales were down considerably, there are other things that could offset it. When Knott's added the "largest Johnny Rockets in the world", I was worried it would flop, as Johnny Rockets prices are not exactly on the cheap side. But that place is always packed, and you usually, during summer and holidays, have to wait for a table. I'm sure they make more on that than sales of Snoopy plush. It was a dying arcade prior to that with old video games that were rarely played, so a wise move.

Ouf course, the flip side is families make recognize the Johnny Rockets name, so are more willing to have lunch/dinner at something familiar where they know their kids will eat.

I'm not sure what Johnny Rockets has to do with anything other than people like to eat familiar franchised crap. :)

^ If you saw the lines to get it the JR at Knott's, and guestimate how much money is made there on $8 and up burgers, $5 fries and $6 shakes....additions like that can make up for any lost merch sales....that was my point.

They're not related. They open a restaurant to make more money, not replace lost revenue.

A flume done right -- like Knott's, Disney, IOA -- can be a lot of fun, but it'd be a bit of a shock if THAT would be the hyped up announcement. A new flume would attract maybe 7 more guests next season.

The ship battle rides with the supersoakers would clearly fit into the dueling theme, but this is actually a minor attraction in Dollywood and Legoland. Dollywood claims its version cost $5 million, which seems way too low for a Cedar Point ride worth pre-announcing.

You can't spell hype or whyte without a "y" and that's just what folks will be asking themselves if it's one of those two rides that is announced in a few days.

^^ You don't get it.

Why don't you tell everyone about all the names you called me in a PM because you're not interested in debating anything?

You bring up good points, Rick, but I also think that CP has shown that it's willing to spend money on things that are a little bigger picture in terms of experience. Of course, I'm basing that only on Starlight Experience, which is hardly a trend, but I can still see some logical focus on "atmospheric" things that make warm fuzzies. They love surveys, and I think you can guess what they might be saying is missing.

I wonder if they are simply going to drop Scooby for Sally's "Ghost Blasters" theme. Basically the "Grey Ghost" is called another name is is still the villian. It would also be a quick retheme job.

I still dont understand why they are dropping Scooby though, you cant get a better theme for that kind of ride.

I'm getting confused. This isn't the Cedar Point announcement thread. Cedar Point doesn't have Nick at it's park, so the announcement will have nothing to do with offsetting revenue from the losses associated with the Nick change.... unless we are thinking about covering for the chain?

But I think Jazma was trying to offer that a new venture at KI like Johnny Rockets might offset some of the loss at that park due to no longer having Nick.

Leave it to Carrie to put the thread back on track. ;)

Snoopy sucks! :)

Amen to that.

crazy, are you praying for me, buddy? ;)

LK, I thought you were the guy who said:

I will give in a little and say that seeing Snoopy and Schroeder was exciting too...

Back on track or not, I guess I'm still confused. :)

But I ended that sentence with...

, but not nearly as exciting as Spongebob.

In comparison to what some other parks offer, Snoopy sucks!

Thanks for challenging me.
