repeat threads

This isn't really much of a "suggestion," but I just want to see what people, especially moderators, think of repeat threads. Personally I have no problem at all with them, because some of us haven't been members long enough to see every single thread that's ever been posted here. I've seen lots in my few months, though, and most of them get plenty of responses. My take is that if a thread is interesting to enough folks to get responses, it should be left alone. Now wait, I'm not saying any are getting deleted, but there are members out there that seem to have a real problem with them, and I've seen more and more "this has been covered, go here" posts. I'm not saying I'm right, I just want more opinions on this, especially from those who see a need to encourage the rest of us to look up old threads.

OK, this sounds like I am venting about something that's been getting to me, and I am, but no offense intended at anyone.

Repeats are OK with me as long as they're not the variety that lead to flame wars or tired debates (i.e., "is Superman a coaster"). I would also prefer that they weren't just talked about last week.

The way I see it, if you have a topic you want to resurrect, all you have to do is reply to it and it will return to the first page of threads. If everybody who decides to start a new "Which new for 2001 coaster will be the best" thread should just add their responses to the older ones and they move back to the top of the page. Because of Jeff's ingenious design, there is no need for repeat topics. I do see your point, though, if people start a new thread, they shouldn't be bashed for it. I guess I'm guilty of this, so I'll give up on that.
