In their final days of controlling the Reedy Creek improvement district’s board, Disney executives and attorneys found a way to poison the authority of the incoming members appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis and effectively oversee the area’s development.

Speaking of Reagan, he is quoted as saying "The truth is that outside of its legitimate function, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector."
While I would generally disagree with this statement, Reedy Creek is an example where private business (Disney) did a much better job than the government would do.
Capitalism is not the enemy, as much as the Bernie Bros want to declare it so, it just can't go unregulated. The lines between pure capitalism and pure socialism have always been blurred, and they're even blurrier in most other industrial nations. But our goofy exceptionalism continues to support the myth that you can let the markets go wild and everything will be fine. We have so many obvious and clear examples of this macroeconomic myth, as recently as 2001 and 2008. There more specific examples in nearly every industry. Unfortunately, ideologues can't find ways to compromise, because one side believes the rich are immoral thieves and the other believes that entitled lazy people want to take money from the rich. Neither one is reality.

I would pretty much agree with what you said, Jeff. If things are under-regulated, the economy trends toward monopolies. If things are over-regulated, everything the company wants to do gets stifled. It is very difficult, and probably impossible to achieve the optimal amount of regulation.
Maybe, but if we stopped acting like every decision was a one-way door, and we could iterate, perhaps we'd get over the fear of pursing good instead of perfect.

This is a misrepresentation of what Bernie believes. He believes "unfettered capitalism" is the enemy. At least, that's what I get out of listening to him.

No, he's been painting rich people as the bad guys all along. He scapegoats just as badly as the right does. I'm not suggesting that they're morally equivalent, but it's hyperbolic nonsense.
